Have you stopped to think that going against Brennan instead of Burrow is making them have this impression?

We're basically unleashing the D-line this year. I think we're light years ahead of where we were last year. We're going in with a lot less questions.

But, but, but, we don’t have depth on DLine and Guillory has a sprained ankle.....

Sometimes simpler is better

And sometimes it’s not. I like an attacking defense, but Aranda’s defense last year was underappreciated.

His defense is complex, and it doesn’t hit its stride until later in the year - otherwise known as championship time. But once our guys had it down, they absolutely dominated the best of the best.

I’m looking forward to seeing the defense be more aggressive, and I think O made the right move considering the style of athletes LSU tends to get. I think LSU’s defensive talent and experience is a little better this year (I would have said much better had Shelvin been aboard), so I expect a better defense.

Maybe he's referring to the current part of the season.

Having a lot less questions, ready to play week 1.

I care about what the defense looked like when we weren't decimated by injuries or taking an entire half off in a game that was never close after beating Bama at Bama.

The defense last year was so much better than many of yall care to admit to. So many are going to be disappointed when 202 LSU defense isn't so much better than last year's.

So the captain of the defense tells us they are well ahead of last year at this time but people on a chat room question it. This place is special.

I don’t know what people expect Stevens or Oregeron to say. Clearly they aren’t going to come out and say “well the defense isn’t good.” At the same time, it’s fair for fans to be skeptical of outlandish claims that the defense is lightyears ahead of the defense that finished the year shutting down two of the most prolific offenses in the country.

My guess is that it’s somewhere in the middle. This defense could very well be just as good as the defense that finished out last season but lots of question marks remain with the losses on that side of the ball and new scheme.

"Going into the Season"

LSU has always been attacking and physical on Defense. I appreciate Aranda but hated the "hold the line" and scheme mentality.

The D stepped up when it mattered most. And Aranda helped bail Miles and O before we had a legit offense. He earned some slack last year. The number of people who turned on him was ridiculous.

The issue with are the available players. O liked to recruit players that are going to be much more compatible with with Pelini's defense. That is also the style of play that is far more common in this region, so the talent pool for that type of player is much larger.

Looking forward to see the defense dictate and see how it works vs the offenses that we see today. I’m excited

Just took them awhile to get there. Watching that Ole Miss game was frustrating as hell.

final minutes in the Gumpgame was frustrating also.

giving them 2 touchdowns with little defensive scheme was pathetic.

most high school coaches would have been better prepared.

The defense had to play Burrow and the 2019 offense all offseason. Our defense was giving up 50-60pts and over 70% completion all off season. Delpit and Orgeron have both said that. I’ll reserve my excitement until we blowout Leach this weekend.

He did, esp that last TD. Still the D was lights out down the stretch.
