Still need a catcher that can hit

With Johnson’s hitting tutelage, Milazzo should hit .250 to .275 next year. Considering his stellar defense and with the firepower this batting order will have, that’s plenty good enough.

That kid made a commitment to a university for at least a partial scholarship. I mean I’m glad he’s here and not playing for a rival, but it’s still fricked up he can just up and leave UA.

Baseball is just not the sport to bemoan this.

Scholarship limitations are ruthless and schools process kids left and right.

I upvoted only because you used the word bemoan. Nicely done

But it's not fricked up that Jay Johnson can just up and leave UA?

Of course not. Jay Johnson is a professional hired to do a job and is paid by the university to do so. Had Arizona chosen to do so they could have thrown enough money to get him to stay. I’m not sure if there was a buyout, but there could have easily been one if not.

With the transfers, Arizona put time and money into that kids life and gave him an opportunity. His commitment was NOT to Jay Johnson, it was to the University of Arizona.

Spin it how you wish, but it’s a shitty thing to allow in an “amateur sport” where you are a scholar first and athlete second.

Why not? Johnson told Milazzo he’ll have him hitting .300 next year so I was being conservative and no, I wasn’t “pulling shite out of thin air.”

I think Johnson’s opinion about Milazzo’s potential improvement is at least as good as a the opinion of a shithead like you.

Berry coming to LSU says differently, he obviously wants to play for Jay and likes the LSU opportunity. I've never found it proper that coaches can have success off their players skills and hard work and haul arse for the first coaching offer than meets their compensation demand. It's even worse when most of the guys end up with very little scholarship money.

Weird because he transferred to the exact college that Johnson got hired at. No one commits to the university any more grandpa

Again, when scholarships get right and gets are getting processed the schools throw all that this out the window.

He had 1 year of scholarship and played that year of baseball.

And it’s not like Arizona was the only one giving him this opportunity. He was a pretty big time recruit.

Scholarship agreements are one year at a time. Technically, he fulfilled his commitment to Arizona.

This is the point that poster is missing. Arizona did not commit to him for more than a year. And had he sucked, they would have cut him. Well, by letting their coach get away Arizona sucked, so he cut them.
