I saw more out of zone strikes. Like the one he called on Pearson high and inside. It was even with his shirt sleeve also several below the knee strikes. The catchers were consistently pulling the mit upwards back to the zone. Its all good we got the dub!

The past few seasons in SEC play the umps squeezed the shite out of the pitchers. It was getting ridiculous how perfect a pitcher had to be to get a call.

It seems like the SEC has loosened the zone up this season. Let's see if it last all season.

The zone was big but it was consistent which is good. It was probably slightly larger than I would prefer but I rather that then a tight zone that leads to a walk fest.

I’d rather see the sec zones be more inline with what we see in post season play

I'm all for a loose strike zone as long as it's called both ways. Ump last night liked them on corners and I'm fine with that. Get up there and swing the bat, swing it hard in case you hit it.

Strike zone was shite. And it doesn’t matter if it’s consistently shite.

You do realize the zone is the same regardless of level of baseball. I mean the only time it should be any different is when it’s a blowout, everybody wants to go home, there’s absolutely no betting involved and the players are younger than 10 years old.

As long as he’s consistent, I’m okay. I remember in the first inning he called one a strike that was high and outside. It was a terrible call, the batter even looked back at the ump. But the ump called every pitch there a strike, so I was okay with it. Players will adjust. It’s when the ump calls that a strike one way and a ball another, that’s when the problem arises.

I didn't mind it. Thought he called it both ways. The games can get a little bit too offensive. Definitely helped LSU once they gained the lead.

Oregon State in the CWS against LSU. Caleb Gilbert was pitching over the other batter’s box and getting the calls.

This, it was consistent all game and both ways.

Plus not sure why anyone would want a walkfest over having guys swing. Once we broke it open the only way back for Texas was going to be walks so the larger zone benefited us.

The problem with in-game consistency is it changes for every game because you have a different ump every game. Some can see and others can't. Nothing against the blind, mind you.

A consistent electronically measured strike zone is the answer.

Fire the umps.

The ump was giving pitchers the "low strike" all night long. But to be fair, he was doing it for both sides.
