re: “Its understood to the quarterbacks that this is something that will extend into the fall”

quote:so you want the coaches to dick around with the QBs merely to keep them here for depth? QBs 3 and 4 probably know they won't start, so it's really about QBs 1 and 2.
Are you saying you wish they would end the QB battle in the spring so one of them has time to transfer out?
If the decision is clear, it's far better for the coaches to declare the starter, and that allows the team to coalesce behind that QB as the leader. And that guy would get far more reps in fall camp.
Don't play games - if the coaches know who's the guy, declare it and move forward.
Plus, it would be pretty shitty to Brennan if he's no. 2 and the coaches play games to keep him here until the end of fall camp.

You can't make this stuff up. That's is so laughably stupid!

quote:Thats the problem I think. The decision is not clear. Yet anyway. This is a slow, methodical situation. Everything is new to everyone. And according to the OC, only 30% has even been taught to them. We have a long way to go before someone steps up imo. They’ll know when they see it. That may be into the season. We’ll see.

That's just coachspeak for "we are pretty much set at QB. We just don't want to run off the other guy before the season starts."
translation: we prefer a dual threat QB, but the one we brought in is only at about 30% of where he needs to be. So we are going with a passing game until.

Until one shows a big separation from the other, if it ever happens. This board is obsessed with Daniels suddenly for some reason. Seems like the typical tRant wanting the second string QB until they see him play then they'll call for Nuss, then Howard, and so on. Even happened in the cycle with Burrow.
I can't see Daniels being great this year. I do think he has that potential factor but if you watched his previous years in a vastly inferior conference he's not a polished thrower. That's not going to cut it in the SEC. If he's efficient it can work but he was never efficient. Athleticism vs. someone who can hum the ball especially deep passes. I could see both working in the system together until you can't say no to one of them.
tRant's favorite QB is always who's #2 on the depth chart at QB! I'm not a fan of a 2 QB system but if neither wants to show big separation you kinda have to go with it until one does.

Oh they def playing both……

So you’re saying Jayden is the guy but he’s not up to speed yet?
Posted on 4/13/22 at 9:27 am to abellsujr
If I'm Brennan (or his father), after the spring game if I'm not at least privately assured by the staff that I'm the starter I'm in the portal. Myles ABSOLUTELY HAS to start somewhere this year-it's his last shot to ball out for a possible pro career.

I want the coaches to do whatever helps LSU football win the most games next year.
The other guy said "We wouldn't have gotten Joe Burrow if the battle with Dwyane Haskins went into the fall." I don't see how that has anything to do with what is going on right now.

This is the constant stupidity on this board lmao!!!!These statements are so dumb. Learn to separate your wants from reality.

They don't want one or the other to leave especially Brennan.
Lol, what? He's a 6th year senior... Please explain how you came up with that conclusion.

Actually from a physical standpoint Nuss has all the tools. He can run and move better than Myles and has a cannon for an arm. He probably isn’t ready to start in front of Myles or Daniels but I wouldn’t rule him out completely. I don’t think Kelly plays favorites like our previous 2 coaches. Best guy will play and he will yank that guy if he isn’t getting it done.

Yes. Hearing he flees the pocket too quickly, and is less accurate than the others. There was also a 247 article that interviewed both Kelly and Herm Edwards. Edwards only wanted Daniels to extend plays with his feet, Kelly wants him for designed runs. I'm not sure the designed runs are working as well with SEC speed as Kelly thought
Myles seems to be the leader in the huddle, because of his familiarity with his teammates

Thanks for the info. And that actually sounds feasible. Let’s see how things develop.

How does the battle end in Spring when they’ve only installed 30% of the offense and put in a “pause” until everyone gets on the same page? We’ve got a terrific coaching staff that knows what they are doing. We aren’t adrift in the Shrimp Boat anymore with Yaw Yaw decision making and strategies.

I think the two upperclassmen will get 1a and 1b with the hot hand getting most of the plays in certain games. We are fortunate to have the four young men that we do. They all have the talent to play here whenever they are called upon.

Joe's situation demanded respect and Meyer gave him that.
My gut says there will be conversations immediately after Spring and at least 1 will leave. I'm also being told Howard's progress as a true freshman is causing hesitation as well. I'm not against Brennan starting at all if he's best...problem is, uts a totally new offense, so his experience doesn't mean much with having to sit out all of last year, AND with an injury.
Daniels...hes fast. It stops there. I don't think anyone thinks he's a better thrower than any of the other 3. So do we really choose a guy because he's faster? I think not...although he does have a ton of experience.

You realize what you're saying what you would like to see would mean LSU losing a QB to transfer, right?

Let’s see how Daniels looks after he gets familiarity with the system and what they want him to do. All of them really. Remember Flynn threw like 5 interceptions in his spring game before 2007. Things could look very different for everyone in the fall.

GTFOH with that bull.Dude has more good on film and has played more games than Myles. Myles has been familiar with being at LSU and the receivers. Its going to be funny when you see full time starter against FSU. Y'all are the SAME PEOPLE WHO SAID WE AREN'T TAKING A QB I. THE PORTAL!This board obsession with Myles is creepy and that's being polite
