It’s nice to win but the SEC tournament is the least
Posted by lsutiger2

important part of the entire season. There is a shite ton of media coverage so that gets people riled up and invested but obviously with pulling pitchers early it shows the coaches agree. Today was a net positive in the fact that Riley looks ready to ball for the postseason. Yeah Skenes had a hiccup but everyone knows he’s the best pitcher in baseball

Agreed. Get out of Hoover injury-free and have the guys ready to bust the doors down next week. They’ve been on the road for a week-plus. SEC tournament title is nice but means nothing in the long run. Just ask all those maineiri teams that won it and flamed out in the tournament

Agreed. We doubled them In hits on an off day hitting. I’m not too worried about because if we see them when it matters it will be in Omaha.

Sure seems to matter to these players playing on TV. Seems to matter to these guys playing tonight. You always want to win a championship. As long as you are diligent with your pitching and don’t over extend anyone I don’t see the issue. If we weren’t now in the losers bracket I would be saying go for it. I wanna see Floyd, Herring, Guidry, Coleman, Collins, and Money get some work in. I would also like to see Crews and Dugas get hot.

Not that this means anything but fun fact:
3/6 of our championships were paired with an SEC championship
1993
2000
2009
Honorable Mention:
*2017- won SEC Title, CWS runner-ups
Not fun fact, this made me realize we’re approaching the 14 year anniversary of our most recent national title.

I have to agree.
It would be cool to win the SEC tournament but there are bigger things on the horizon.
I’m focused on that.

I love all the mental gymnastics being used to explain the .500 baseball LSU is playing now. "Well LSU is this and that back in 2003 when they did this " lol.

Yep. It’s the little betas crying that the sec tourney doesn’t mean anything. Lmao
It’s the same as saying the Sec championship in football is meaningless.

Gumps didn’t win the division/SECCG several times and got escorted into the BCSCG/CFP.

It is totally meaningless when you’ve already locked up the regional host spot. Would have been fine with them tanking it.

Ah…the traditional “that loss didn’t mean anything anyway” thread. This place wouldn’t be the rant without it.

Right. frick all the “smart baseball guys” who want to “save” pitchers and claim we don’t need to win in Hoover.
There are definitely some positives… Hurd, Ack, and Coop all hitting strides; emergence of Travinski.

quote:There were many threads and discussions prior to the SECT that stated the SECT is mostly meaningless and the goal is to get work in and set up for the regional. If you end up winning it, that’s great and all, but not very important.

Of course dumbasses refuse to read that and instead decide to melt as usual. That’s why this place wouldn’t be the rant without it.

If they don't care, why should we? I've been to my last SEC tournament game. Goes downhill every year. Concession lines yesterday were a joke--maybe 8 windows for 12,000 people. No other food vendors (Full Moon BBQ has been there in years past). One merch vendor with crap (those black hoodies were just jumping off the table!). Traffic always routes you out to East Jesus Middle School and makes you walk in from there, so the Bama fans can park fifty feet from the entrance. frick it, I'm done. Move it to Columbus or Pensacola. I don't care anymore.
