We aren't overlooking him. He already stated he intends on taking a redshirt this year.

Wouldn't be too sure of that. This is Kelly's team. Ed ain't here no more. Incumbents are going to have to win their job every year, as it should be. I think Howard has a higher ceiling that even Nuss. May not happen but would not be surprised...at all

I don't know but maybe you or someone else does. What's Kelly's history of starting freshman QBs? Because he'll be a freshman again if he redshirts. I'm sure he'll be given an opportunity but if he doesn't light it up I'm guessing they'll opt for an upperclassman again

Do you really believe people aren't excited about a home-grown, legacy 5-star QB?
I'm not really following.

It's also strange to me how some people completely ignore the recent reports that Jayden leads from guys like Jacques Doucet
I'm not going to side with one player and die on a hill with one player because I'm more of an LSU fan than a player fan

I started a thread yesterday about what Jacques Doucet said re the qb's, and I took it as Daniels only had the lead because Nuss wasn't healthy at the time - but when they are both healthy then it's even.

I don't think anyone's intention is to die on a hill, I just thought it was pretty crazy for everyone to be throwing around statements about Myles and acting like he was ever a good qb or he ever had a legit chance to be the starter this year. I also now think it's crazy that everyone is already crowning Daniels the starter, when nothing anyone has said or done indicates that he has won the job

Yeah that's fair
Granted, there is some stuff out there suggesting that he looks better as a passer
It wouldnt shock me to see him start myself

We're excited about him... Next year.

O.P. should realize BK set that expectation. The future is bright with him, but that’s why he’s not being talked about as much right now.

Can you please reference this “stuff” you’ve seen suggesting he’s a better passer? I think you guys hear stories from the media, get the info all twisted and make up your own truth from these little stories told.

What is likely separating the two, if there is some, is the experience factor. Things like, pre-snap reads, checks, audibles, pocket awareness, timing of the offense (including when and where to run) and the success rate of the offense while running ALL aspects of the position, NOT that he looks better as a passer.

That part seems to be simply made up from twisted story telling or misinterpreted. From all accounts, the better passer of the football is Nuss. Now when to pass it, to whom to pass it and those types of things matter quite a bit when deciding who will start the first game.

With all that said, anyone can pass the other up at any point in the season. So whoever actually starts the first game against FS won’t necessarily be for the entire season so, it really doesn’t matter all that much. Unless you’re FS or the next LSU opponent. I’m just ready for some good solid football! GT

As I stated in a MB thread, it is not impossible they told Myles that Howard will be the emergency / mop up guy this year for 4 games or less to save his redshirt essentially making MB the 4th string. CBK needs to look at future and Howard is it. He’ll *really* be it if Nuss leaves

I’ll go a step further…if Nuss and Daniels are both inconsistent…Kelly is gonna start looking at Walker

I'm not sure. Honestly never really paid much attention to ND football. I doubt that Kelly had many freshmen QB with the credentials/talent that Howard obviously has. I think Nuss probably has just about as much upside as Howard but I think he may also have a lower floor. That's based off more of what I've seen in Nuss'es game vs anything I've seen with Howard obviously. If Nuss can protect the ball and be a reliable decision-maker, he will be a very high-end SEC QB IMO. Hope we get to see both of these guys win championships at LSU!
