Outside of Kentucky and Florida in the last 20 years LSU is the most storied program in the SEC.
I believe you misunderstood or I was not clear. I meant Florid during the past 20 years. Other wise LSU has historically been the most storied program other than Kentucky measured by Final Four appearances , SEC titles and elite players.

Understood. My take is “storied” is the wrong word.
It may be an unpopular opinion, but storied programs win Final Four games.

Arkansas has us beat. Tennessee hasn't had the NBA talent we've had but that sorta speaks even worse towards LSU. OU and Texas both have some decent tradition. LSU is squarely an average basketball program historically that's managed to waste some of the best talent the sport has seen

Lsu isn't supposed to be good in hoops
It all started with WW ticking off Cal by getting Smart over KY and Cal did not like it one bit. This set the wheels in motion - But Cal got the players we all know like Dick and Forde on his side and they set the narrative early and were as persistent as possibly could have been at driving that narrative home over and over to the point that it became impossible to overcome - and of course the hypocrisy of it is well chronicled.
So yes as you say he threatened the balance of power and they were not going to stop until they got their pound of flesh. Meanwhile the current Florida coach is creeping on co-ed's all over campus and is totally cleared as if nothing ever happened.
