IMO, it’s simple. There are 3 undefeated teams from P5 conferences. Regardless of what their schedule looked like, they got it done.

Michigan
Washington
FSU
Texas/Bama

What makes this one interesting is Texas beat Bama early in the season. But also lost to an Oklahoma team that isn’t that good. Does the committee put less value on losses early in the season? Or do they put more value the strength of the conference? I can see it going both ways.

Personally, I think we’re looking at the first time with no SEC team in the playoff.

Texas should have lost to Houston as well if not by several bad calls on refs.

I don’t see how Bama jumps a team with the same record who beat them.

How do you justify that?

And Bama should have lost to Auburn if not for a miracle play in the final seconds.

Alabama should’ve lost to Auburn if not for two miracle gifts from above.

It is really simple. Texas is in because all games matter. And before people start whining about Alabama getting left out, they should’ve taken care of business against Texas. They also had to sweat out on last-minute Hail Mary against Auburn so people talking about close games of other teams need to look in the mirror. Nobody from the SEC belongs in this championship

Argument should be between fsu and Bama, not Bama and Texas. That’s an easy decision

Bama needed a last second miracle to beat Auburn. They needed the refs to ignore holding as well one that play

I don’t think they will. But there’s an argument to be made about strength or schedule and strength if conference.

Texas lost to a mediocre Oklahoma team, barely beat unranked K State, probably should’ve lost to unranked Houston, and won their conference championship against a team that lost to South Alabama and UCF. They beat 3 ranked teams all season.

Bama lost early in the season (albeit to Texas) and has wins against 3 teams that are likely to finish in the top 10 and beat the team that was ranked #1 for the entire season in the their conference championship.

Like I said, I don’t think Bama gets in. I can just how they could.

The Texas/Bama head to head is definitive. It’s FSU/Bama.

After sleeping on it, I think it will be FSU.

All that said and painful to even bring up…. they did make us play Bama again.

What else is FSU supposed to do. They beat every team in their schedule, win their championship. If you say their conference is weak then you are not looking at each P5 conference the same and that is bias.

If all games matter then why doesn’t Texas’s loss to OK matter? Who has the worse loss in this scenario? AL or Texas?

I agree FSU should be in but every talking head on ESPN is saying they are out. The two on the radio this morning are saying FSU may be deserving but they are out of luck.

This is actually a really good point.

What kind of message does it send to student athletes if they leave out FSU because of an injury?

They might as well cut teams to 22 players and last team without an injury is champ.

Football is a team sport and backups are on the team for a reason.

If one of the playoff teams lose their starting QB in practice, should they be swapped out?

Bama would have a couple more losses as well if it weren’t for corrupted officials.

FSU will be absolutely boat-raced by anyone they play if they get in.

The committee will look dumb when this happens and the ACC is not as powerful as the Big 10 or the SEC.

FSU will be left out and probably get boat-raced in a New Year’s Day Bowl.

You guys are conveniently forgetting the USF, 7&5, RKansas, and Auburn games when using the ‘eye’ test for Bama.
