Is this the most hyped/consequential game in the history of LSU/A&M series?

Back when the Aggies were in the SWC we used to play each other at the beginning of the year. I wasn't around until the very end of this era of the rivalry so maybe you oldheads might have some memories of particular big games between us. But just due to the nature of being OOC opponents and usually the 1st or 2nd game of the year, these games were mostly for bragging rights and didn't really have a lot of national or conference implications. Were there any years that both schools had high preseason expectations when we played? And did both teams live up to it after the matchup?

Since they joined the SEC usually only one team was good while the other was bad, or maybe both teams were mediocre and just playing to spoil the other or bragging rights. I don't think we ever really played a game when both teams still had so much at stake on both the national and conference scenes.

Nah 2012 was bigger. No playoffs, loser of that game was pretty much eliminated from the SEC title game and BCS title game. It was also A&Ms first year in the SEC and they had JFF.

You're really living on here today, huh?

You get kicked out of the all-male orgy and just nothing to do?

Every game we play from here on out is going to be the most consequential game of the season, because one more loss puts you RIGHT on the line of making the playoffs or not. This A&M game isn't any more important than any of our other games the rest of the season.

Because of the expanded playoff, yes. The winner of this game can simply win the rest of the games they're supposed to win and will make the playoffs. This is huge.

College station will be too much for lsu Saturday. The offsides BS will be a bigger problem when there are 40,000 more people to deal with.

For both teams? - Maybe

For LSU? - No.

In 2022 LSU went into the game ranked No. 5 in the CFP poll. Had LSU won, they would have entered the SECCG with a CFP berth on the line. LSU's loss made the SECCG largely inconsequential in terms of LSU's playoff hopes.

Saturday is a big game for both teams. However, a loss likely doesn't eliminate either team from CFP contention or even an SEC Championship. Best case scenario is that it gives the winner an inside track to the SECCG as the only undefeated team in conf. play and also a margin for error the remainder of the season in terms of CFP hopes (it's likely a 2 loss SEC team gets in)

Giving A&M a loss in conference play is a bigger deal than than of the other schools LSU plays.

Back in the day, there was a palpable rivalry between the two that centered around their recruitment of John David Crow, and later on, their recruitment of Billy Cannon's son.

Haven't heard anything wrt either of those two in many years.

It didn’t feel like it though. 11am game. Before Manziel’s coming out party against Bama. I felt like the 2013 game had a bigger feel leading up to it than the 2012 game.

If 8&4 wins then yes.

If LSU wins it will just be another in a long list of arse kickings for the little bitches.

I say yes because of the position both teams are in. No one had this game of being of this magnitude in the preseason. The winner gets a lot of breathing room. LSU has a favorable schedule after this game. 3 of the last 4 are at home. A&M has to go to SC at night which is VERY underrated and they still have Texas. Looking at both teams, i feel like LSU is the better team coming into this game. I think this is another game where the defense takes another step foward.

Id argue Bama is a bigger deal because we can ELIMINATE them out of playoff possibility completely if we win. A 2 loss Bama team could still make the playoffs given a few more losses by top 10 teams.

Wow, I didn't realize Kyle field holds 116K now. Impressive.
