Is this team the ultimate culmination of Miles' plan?

This team seems like the ultimate "Les Miles Squad" to me.

-Strong running game? Check...in spades
-Competent QB with above average skill in both running/mobility and arm? Check
-Control the LOS? Check
-Ability to sustain drives and milk the clock? Check
-Bend but don't break D? Check
-Buckle down in crunch time? Check

It just feels like this is the team Miles has tried to construct the entire time he has been here. We may not have a ton big-time playmakers but every single player on the starting 11 on both sides of the ball is solid. Nobody stands out as being a weak link. The offense always does enough when the D struggles. The D can make a stand when it matters.

The ONLY thing that is holding this team back is special teams which blows my mind because great special teams has ALWAYS been a staple of our team since he has been here.

This team is EXACTLY what Miles has been shooting for since he arrived in BR.

Addressed it. Not saying it isn't a concern, but offense and defense are obviously a larger factor. You get ST down pat and Miles has his vision.

That was the 2011 football team.

If we avoid some key early entries, Peevs gets fired, and we bring in the epic 2016 class we are anticipating, I see 2016 being our best team under Les

2011 was a damn good D but a good bit of that was turnovers. That squad created turnovers like it was going out of style. 2011 wins but this year isn't shabby at all. They buckle down when they need to.

With Harris hitting his groove and LF, we will be better than 2011. We're WAY more versatile now.

2011 defense > 2015
2015 offense > 2011
2011 ST > 2015

2015 is better rounded. D doesn't rely on turnovers (not that turnovers are bad or should be overlooked). Offense LOOKS to be on pace to be better. ST are shite.

We haven't hit the meat of the schedule yet. The gap will close but I don't see it dropping to 200, which is where 2011 ended up.

Is it just me, or does our current defense drop a ridiculous number of interceptions?

I feel like two or three a game bounce off their chests.

Adams has dropped a couple. Debo had one snatched from him against Florida.

If they start picking those, things will get interdasting.

Most people don't understand what this means. They see that number and they're like.. well yeah.. that's better.. but it's not THAT much better.
This offense is very capable and should't get "bogged down" against anyone.
This is very likely the best O-Line + RB combination we've ever had.
since 2003 we've only averaged above 4.9 yards/rush twice. IN 2013 when it was 5.0 and this year when it's 7.1...
7.1!!!
We don't generate that many turnovers, but we don't turn it over. When you can generate a drive, you don't need turnovers like the 2011 squad thrived on.

Our D-Line pressures as well as 2011 (+10 sacks through 6 games compared to +20 through 14 games)

It definitely is the "Miles" team. The outcome of this year should determine whether or not his method works.

Yes and I love it. I've never trusted his system more than this year.

I could see this offense being like the 2006 offense in a way. And the defense 07

I was thinking about this earlier today. He has almost created his ultimate team. Just got to do something about ST.

I like this team, the special teams has to improve, this important if we get in very close game, when the offense from us or our opponents are not playing their best.

Field position will be very important!

I do believe that another piece is that we need another receiver to step up. Malachi and dural have played very good lately but we need that 3rd receiver to step up. This will take pressure off the offense.

I heard a sports guy talking about Les Miles as the madd hater. He said Les takes chances only when he is positive of the out come.
Its obvious he is gaining that confidence in this offense.

Thinking back to the 07 offense i think this guys analogy is 100% right. Les only gambles when he knows the outcome before hand.

The 2011 defense had a lot more going for it than just creating a lot of turnovers. You can't compare this year or any other one to that 2011 squad because it was one of the best in college football history. If LSU wins the the title that year they are one of the best teams in history, period.

The defense this year isn't even in the same stratosphere as 2011, but that doesn't mean they aren't good at all. The special teams is the worst its been in the Miles era and I really hope they do something about it soon because it's going to cost us a game and almost did against Florida. The defense only gave up 14 points really because Florida was gifted the ball on the 10 yard line because T. White decided it was good idea to try and catch a bouncing football instead of running up and catching it in the air like he should. If you eliminate the special teams mistakes that game isn't even close.
