Correct. But having won the first game. Les was lulled into believing that he could do the same thing and win again.

I only saw a few different "fake" formations and an extra couple of quick WR screens. Neither was going to be effective when the defense had absolutley no respect for our deep passing game.

aggressive offense means you change things up, call a creative game plan, make big plays, and you dictate what the defense does, instead of letting the defense dictate what you do.

Would you say we were an aggressive offense at any point this year?

no 1st downs and a steady dose of 5 yard passing plays and weak option runs is anti-aggressive

No doubt.

what happened to the Mad Hatter? The go-for-it-on-4th guy? The fake punt/fake field goal guy?

It was awful.

Our play action passing game was more aggressive with Lee at the helm

That really can't be disputed

Your exactly right. Last night was the 08-10 offense. No identity whatsoever.

What was the gameplan? That's what I've always hated about Jefferson at QB, we run this half-assed spread option horseshite that is nothing but a clusterfrick of fail.

There were definitely more downfield throws during the season in most games than in the very last game.

But I really don't find that kind of offense to be aggressive. Running the ball, mostly up the middle, and then mixing in some play action is just a basic, simple offense.

that guy never really existed, and if he did, it was for a brief moment in 2007

les has alawys been conservative on offense at LSU

aggressiveness doesn't have to be complex

This post is spot on. We've relied on other teams beating themselves far too often under Miles.

As many others have said, we watched the Crowton offense last night. It's the craziest hybrid of a spread I've ever seen.

We have a quarterback who's athletic, but he's doesn't use his athleticism, and he's an abortion of a dropback passer. Because he doesn't use his athleticism, we're left with an abortion of a dropback passer.

All the while, Miles runs an offense for an athletic quarterback when we don't even have an athletic quarterback in essence.

It's truly mind boggling.

A deep ball would be nice.
Like Lee to RR for Tenn in 10, Miss St 11, UK 11, UF 11, Aub 11.
Or JJ to RR for UNC 10, Ala 11, Aub 11.
Or JJ to TT for aTm 10.

No, but it isn't running the ball up the middle or throwing short, quick passes 90% of the time.

THIS man's offense is perfect for the talent that LSU consistently brings in. Skill players at WR and RB. LSU is next to TX, so we just need to pluck a QB right out of there and run it.

But Les thinks Jefferson is talented.

Everytime I see JJ drop back and no WR is wide open, this crosses my mind:
quote:

Once the quarterback has the ball, he fakes to the left.
No. He fakes to the right.
He doesn't fake.
He thinks about faking.
He pretends to fake.
Sack.

Aggressive can be run out of a very simple I-form Play action offense.

Aggressiveness is defined when it's 3rd and 2 or 3 to go. Les will hand off 90% of the time on 3rd and 2 or 2nd and 1. Aggressive is a PA go deep on 2nd and 1. Or a PA roll out on 3rd and 2 or a shotgun 5 wide on 3rd and 3.

I agree almost reminds you of Bo Schembechler. CLM is way too conservative on offense. CLM is going to need to bring in one of these cutting edge offensive minds as the OC to compete with Saban.

When the U was winning their National Titles, playaction out the I was their bread and butter. Pro Style offense with a bunch of athletes at the helm. Many people commented on the simplicity of their offense but it worked because it took advantage of their athletes.

EXACTLY.

2nd and 1 PA go deep to Moss or Andre Johnson was fricking money.

I do not post much but the game last night reminded of a comment by Bernie Kosar when he faced Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. He commented how Miami was running this pro style offense and Nebraska was still running defensive schemes still from the 70's. Our offense has to become more cutting edge with the athletes they have at LSU. My take FWIW.
