It doesn't fricking matter. He didn't want to come here is all we need to know.
i don't believe this. thats why I posted .

The recruiting staff should've been better prepared for this possibility, rather than trusting the word of an 18 year old.
You can say the same about every recruit for every school. At some point you have to trust your instinct and experiences to believe you will get a certain recruit. It was clear that for three years this kid was all LSU from every reliable source. This was not a last day flip for a recruit who was never totally committed such as LSU getting Arden Key three years ago. This kind of flip does not just happen.

You're going to be sorely disappointed.
This kid will play a ton as a true freshmen and be a super star by the time he leaves.
And you really think I'm going to be worried about that if and when it happens?

You should be. Bama has whipped the shite out of LSU 7 times in a row. They continue to steal talent like Surtain away and that streak is only going to extend longer.

Turning down Goodrich who wanted to commit Sunday... Also saving a spot for that QB that was never coming.....it shows a scary lack of forethought and planning and instead hoping it would all just fall into place exactly how he wanted

This. It's not about just one recruit, it's about his approach to the whole recruiting process. How could you look at the CB depth chart and not plan to sign 2-3 guys, some of whom were at risk of flipping.

It's more likely he saw Alabama win another championship in the last month and wants to be part of the winning culture.
you really think one one championship sealed the deal. If that was his criteria he would have committed to Alabama long ago.

The two programs are in different realms right no
If Brennan is the quarterback we all hope he will be this equation might be flipped on its ear.

I think it finally sank in that he would be turning down Nick Saban for Ed Orgeron.
Sadly, this

The post was about Surtain's recruitment. This is irrelevant to the point i am making.

We're talking the greatest coach in all of college football
He wasn't waiting around to see if Orgeron was going to beat him on Surtain. Saban had him in the bag, and had his 25 schollys locked down way BEFORE 11PM
Don't be that stupid

Just face it, the kid wants to play for championships not citrus bowls. It's really not hard to comprehend.
I know its hard for us hardcore LSU fans to admit it.
But, why would a guy, especially an out of state guy, even consider LSU over Bama at this point? And I'm being serious. I love LSU and if I was a HS recruit, I'd sign the first LSU offer that came around/ But these other elite out of state athletes with no connection here...what the hell can LSU offer right now? What is the appeal of the program to an outsider?

Could you sound any more giddy about it?
Why don't you move to Alabama and root for him every Saturday for fricks sake.

why is it hard to accept that a kid would rather play for a proven, championship team that has the best coach and provides the best opportunity
O is not that guy, SE is not that Guy and if we are not careful Aranda will have to leave us to keep his reputation in tack
I hate to lose good recruits but there is not need to fabricate stories about why we lost them.
We all know why key recruits decided to leave.

It is clear the young man wanted to be at LSU and there was some undisclosed pressure that caused him to choose Alabama.
Meh. The greatest college football coach in history who just won yet another natty says "come play for me", vs. Farmer Fran saying "we comin". Is it really a choice?

Saban only signed 20 kids. Its all Alabama needed....

And that trust should've gone out of the window when he had an opportunity to sign his letter of intent in December and didn't.
If you've been recruiting someone for 3 years and they tell you they're not sure and they want to take the rest of their visits, then that's an undecided recruit. All of those years you've been recruiting him mean jack shite at that point. The red flags were there, no one wanted to heed them.
