bfd, this isn’t Notre Dame, this is supposed to be the big leagues, didn’t he win a D3 “championship” too?

It's possible.

Senior QB with a year starting under his belt. Same OC.
Same DC with some new talent.

If our lines can come together and just be solid, we have a chance at wrecking shop.

I would still be it will be a close game.

Have you seen LSU beat the breaks off an equal or greater talented team the last 3 years?

Answer is emphatically no.

Yes, LSU beats Clemson in an Alternate Dimension World where the Offensive Line is Andrew Whitworth and Will Campbell at Tackle. Alan Faneca and Kevin Mawae are the Guards and Ethan Pocic is the Center.

Injuries don't happen in the Alternate Dimension World, so they play the entire game.......

It could happen, but likely not. We would probably need a few turnovers from Clemson.

I never say this, but I do not see how we will win this game. It will be one of the more shocking and satisfying victories in a long time if we do.

no... but in the grand scheme of the entire season and the playoffs, it doesn't matter anyway.... of course i'd much prefer a win, but a loss doesn't end our season either....

take care of business in the SEC and you are assured a playoff spot... THAT is where our focus should be... beating Clemson but missing the playoff does nothing for us....

I’d say probably on planet WASP-76b.
It’s not in our solar system but it’s somewhere out there in the universe. So it is possible yes

When is the last time LSU played a season opener at home? Has that even happened this decade? What atrocious scheduling by LSU staff.

The only reason I think Clemson "might" be overrated is looking back at last season they lost 3 games to all of their SEC opponents:
34-3 to UGA
17-14 to USCe @ Clemson
38-24 to Texas

Their best win last season was a 3 point win over SMU @ Clemson.

I'm going into this game with no expectations and wouldn't be surprised with any outcome.

This and our roster additions from transfers are the 2 main things that give me hope. Nuss struggled against good teams last year, so I am hoping he learned from his mistakes.

I'm trying to get to the psychology as to why their have been so many open season losses. Is it fan pressure? Does LSU fanbase put more pressure than other teams? Is it poor coaching? Lack of talent? Just sheer chance?

If LSU wins 75% of its games, the odds of failing 5 straight times is 00.09%. .25^5

10-2 and make the CFPlayoff as a lower seed

10-2 with our schedule would put us at a #5-7 ranking and home field advantage first round.

Yes. We have a whole roster of motivated players who will play with a chip on their shoulder.

Those who have been here a while don't want to see another opening L and those new portal, impact guys want to play for something. IMO, for the first time in years we have athletes at every level on DEF - DL, LB, DB - that can make impactful plays. Come out fast on OFF and make some plays on DEF to include creating a turnover or two, and don't forget about the speed back there on STs. Punch them in the nose and keep on punching them.

Obviously there is. Now I don't think it's a huge chance (less than 10%) and probably a bigger chance they beat the brakes off us (home and we tend to start seasons slow).

No. In fact, if force to bet, I’d bet Clemson would beat LSU rather handedly. Now, I don’t think they will, but this should be a really close game.

Well, Notre Dame has bested us the past couple of times we faced them. But bowl games don’t count when we lose, right…?

While I would love to see that world...not gonna happen this year. Although I will say that (coming from someone who grew up and lives in SC) Clemson is often overrated at the start of the season. They usually have an early season loss and then work their way back and play much better at the end of the season. (A testament to great coaching). A lot of the Clemson fans I talk to here are nervous about this game and pretty much expect Clemson to lose. But the are hopeful for a good game and a win. Clemson at night will be a tough environment, but it is nothing like Tiger Stadium (I've been to both...they aren't even close). This will be a one score game that comes down to execution....I will be in attendance....hoping to cheer our Tigers on to victory!

Clemson hasn't been blown out at home since they lost to Jameis Winston and #5 FSU in 2013 when they lost 51-14.

The only other double digit loss at home for Clemson since then was a 12 point loss to Louisville in 2024.
