Is there a 105 player limit this year?

One of the soundbites being used to argue against LSU adding three new players is that they will be taking roster spots from three other players who did all the right things and spent all offseason preparing, only to have the rug pulled out on Friday.
Right now, per lsusports.net, there are 112 players on the LSU roster. At least two (Reliford and Anding) are out for the season. But unless there are five others, it sounds like up to 5 players are getting cut on Friday regardless.
I checked the Georgia roster. There are 127 players listed. Is Kirby going to cut 22 kids on Friday who put in the work all offseason and all summer long?
So either there really isn't a cap, or there is one and LSU is going to be cutting a lot less kids then other SEC teams. Either way, this seems like an extremely deceiving talking point.
[For the record, my heart goes out to any of the kids getting cut this week. It really sucks]

Rosters are due Friday. Nothing before that matters.

Some players are grandfathered in and dont count against the total number. I forget the actual clause.

Not all of these guys are making meaningful money and a number of them would play for free.

Nope. There are players grandfathered in under the old system. So they will be under the 105.

How many are grandfathered I wonder. If it's more than 8 then the whole media talking point is BS.

Before the NFL drama started they were officially at 98.

There are 322 players in TPO disputes-so according to the SEC Rant and the Sports Chattering Class LSU plans on having a 450-man roster. Which is brilliant, if you think about it.

Such as you can't come back to college when the NFL doesn't work out?

It's still surprising that is what some people still think what happened.
