Can't make Gainesville this year but have a great trip each time we go. In fact, some Gator fans that we met there three trips ago called me last week to see if we were coming back to alert us of changes to the spot where we tailgate. I honestly felt guilty telling them I was going to Auburn and not Gainesville this year. Stick to the lots with people over 30 or so and they are great. The same would be said about just about every place including LSU. Of course I'm old as hell. I'm 40.

I haven't read what everyone else is saying, so I may be repeating others, but here's my story.

I've been to Gainesville 3 times. '04 student government bus trip. And then again in 06 and 08 on my own. '06 was a blast. '08 was the worst road trip I've been on. Tebow took us behind the woodshed and the Florida fans after the game were the worst I've experienced. Men, women, children... All of them were aggressive, rude, obnoxious, and felt the need to rub in an already terrible loss.

That being said, if I didn't have work, I'd be going again. The fact that we can return the favor this year, and that I've had a good time before, I wish I could make the trip. I'd go if I were you.

ETA: lots of people did want to fight after the game. But that's because they won and it was at night. It wasn't that bad in '06. The Swamp should be an experience traveling LSU fans have. #2 in the nation when we play them, you picked a good year to go

Went there in 1996 and it was the worst road game experience I've ever had. All the young Florida fans wanted to fight and everyone else was rude as hell. I will never go back.

Agree with the age cautions.

Best tailgating I ever had was with Cholly Mac - he used to attend lots of UF games. A truly nice man.

The visiting Florida fans are pretty awesome. The Gainsville crowd may be the worst in the country.

Seriously hope we absolutely demolish then.

It's a trip worth skipping. Florida fans go out of their way to be assholes. I've been twice and will never go back. Gainesville and Little Rock are the only two places in the SEC I've sworn off.

The stadium does get loud but that's about all the positives I can say. It's just not worth the effort to go all that way.

Law enforcement there is a joke. They openly target opposing fans.

The last time I went to a LSU - Florida game in Gainesville was 1986 or 87...I swore I'd never go back...I haven't been back since.

It use to be one of my favorite trips as it always included a day or two at Disney or Universal. The years when Florida was actually something in football were bad years to go to Gainesville. My son is a special needs and we made a decision not to bring him to the game any longer after some of the incidents where Florida fans were screaming at him, taunting him, throwing items his way. Once, I was escorted from the stadium after nailing a 40 something year old guy for his actions. Now that my son is older, he comes to the games with us.

Our last two visits to Gainesville the RV had the windshield wipers broken and the driver side mirror smashed.

Is that negative about Gainesville? I guess you have to draw your own conclusions

Our fan base has been pretty toned down the past 2 years. If there were ever a year to experience an exciting LSU game in the swamp I'd say it's this year. We both should be undefeated, however, UF is still rebuilding. LSU should win. My advice to fans that come:
- don't talk shite, don't be stupid, friendly banter is fun but use it when you know the people you're talking to aren't drunk idiots
-friday night, go out earlier, around 8 or 9. Midtown has a lot of bars but you get a lot of wasted kids walking around talking shite by midnight. It's going to be extremely packed wherever you go. If youre older, Look into a bar downtown, go out earlier if you want to avoid confrontation. If you're single though go to Swamp, will be a lot of beautiful women. Trashy/dtf girls go to gator city
-gameday, if you win don't talk shite. The last thing we want to hear is LSU fans singing and telling us how great you are after a loss. Just be quiet and hold off the excitement until you are away from gator fans
- if you lose, expect shite talk. This shouldn't be surprising. Just take it and ignore it.
- do not carry an open container off campus. Stay on campus and you're fine. Once you step on university ave you're out of luck.

I live in West Palm Beach, and there is nothing southern about this part of Florida. South Jersey...YES!

So, you can expect gold chain, pinky ring wearing arse wipes acting like a bunch of dicks! Don't walk up to the gate adjusting your stash.....they have cameras on top of the stadium( look up when you get to the gate) and are monitoring them looking for people pouring/ stashing liquor. Of course they aren't looking at the blue and orange crowd! They radio down to the Hitler youth and BAM! Happened to me.....

I've been to both places, and IMO, Arkansas is the worst experience, worst fan base, and 2nd place isn't even close.

What surprised me about Florida, though, is they have almost zero tailgate atmosphere. I went in 2006 I think. ESPN gameday was there. Tailgating consists primarily of 2 lawnchairs next to your car, eating sandwiches. And they don't start showing up until about 3 in the afternoon.

I'd disagree. Everytime I go to an LSU game our girls are wearing jean shorts, which is amusingly ironic since that's all we say about UF fans. LSU has incredibly more jean shorts in its fan base. Also, there are a good many UF girls that dress in sundresses every game with pearls. That's about as southern as you get. In fact, I'd say they have more southern dressed girls than we do most game days. The guys are a different story though....

For the record, I've been multiple times, for LSU games and other SEC games. Always was one of my favorite road trips. I'd recommend going, but be careful around the cops. That's the only negative I've ever experienced.

I'd venture to guess that the girls that do this actually attend the school. Florida is just like any other fanbase in the south that has a number of people who never actually attended class there.
