Don’t know but Oklahoma just used three freshman starting pitchers in CWS to make championship round

Can you be specific to the year? Or just in general?

Overall since Jay has been here? Yes unquestionably.

This year? So far I like our pickups more than last year, but you just never know.
I do think that every Omaha team last year being eliminated by the end of regional weekend speaks volumes about the schedule flaws.

This year? We likely have the best class as of now.
In years past? Absolutely. Just big names alone we've gotten:
22
- Berry
- Cooper
- Reyzelman
- McMannus
23
- White
- Skenes
- Hurd
24
- Jump
- Holman
- Brasswell
25
- Eyanson
- Dickinson
- Sheerin
- Cowan
- Hernandez
- Stanfield

We have had very good success in the portal except for the '26 baseball season. '22, '23, '24, & '25 we had very good success with the portal additions.
Eyanson, Dickinson, Berry, White, Skenes, Jump, Hollman, Hurd, and Riley Cooper and were excellent pieces. shite, I forgot to mention Stanny. This year was a rough one but its not the norm for what Jay does in his evaluations.

He’s had one miss year. It’s going to happen from time to time.

Yes its working. A huge deficit this year was poor defense especially the IF and lack of hitting from the portal guys. We have repaired that in spades. We have 2 incredible sophomore hitters coming back in Serna and Braun and 2 more who got valuable experience and showed flashes and potential in Ruckert and Patrick.
The key will be top end pitching and getting hot at the right time.
I like our chances to have 3 very good starters put of the group of evans, Schmidt, Moore, Paz and Velqsquez

Agreed. This past year's portal additions just didn't work out. Jay has acknowledged this in a post game interview (i forget which).
All other previous years we pulled some very good talent and said talent directly contributed to the 23 and 25 nattys.

I think the biggest takeaway people should take from it is how much the man clearly cared about trying to make it work and was able to admit it didn’t work. He looked exhausted because he just was going through it. There was no deflection just striving to make it better and taking ownership.
