we really have to wait to see how next year plays out.

I don’t think so. The tide turned in 2018 in my opinion. For the first time in ten years Bama got owned, by Clemson. It’s been different since then, and 2018 was the inflection point.

They have won one natty since 2017, and it was the pandemic year. And they have been getting slapped around a lot.

They have the number one recruiting class. So no. Has LSU almost caught up…yes. Is Georgia ahead. Yes.

Doubt the end is near, but appears there may be some decay around the edges.

$aban failed at his latest campaign to be gifted that last CFP slot. Haven’t seen that happen before.

Definitely a huge asterick next to any “championship” from the year 2020, such as the Dodgers World Series “championship” that year.

The big change with Bama recently is that they are just not beating the brakes off of everyone now. Yes they only lost by two plays this year but they also could have lost on the last play of the game versus Ole Miss and Aggie. They are getting into these tight games that they usually pull off. And now with the change of the portal and NIL things are changing big-time. It was a really good point by one of the posters earlier talking about how the players who hate Saban they can split. He’s lost so much of that control now and I believe that is going to affect his coaching. It will be a slow decline though. And I wouldn’t be shocked if he still pulls off one more national championship. But I do believe we are starting to see the slow decline.

And the 2017 title was a complete joke. Alabama had no business being in the playoff over Auburn - who had no business in the playoff period.

Stop me if you’ve heard this story before - Alabama only had ten FBS wins, the best of which were vs #17 LSU and #22 Mississippi State…their cross division SEC opponents were “traditional rivals” Tennessee and Vandy who were a combined 1-15 in SEC play. Alabama’s only other top 25 opponent was # 7 Auburn who they lost to by 12.

Yes. The last 5 seasons they have one title and that was in a COVID year which doesn’t really count.

Now compare that with the previous 5 years

This is a good point, but personally I'm still waiting on them to lose 3 (or more) regular seasons games. That hasn't happened since the Cam Newton season of 2010, think about that. Heck they haven't lost 3 games total (including postseason) since then either.

Mullen choked that game away in Starkville

LSU also had a good shot of winning too if Etling and Chark could have connected at all

And may God have mercy on whoever is hired to take over for Nick Saban at Alabama. They will be calling for him to be drawn and quartered after going 9-3

Dabo Swinney will be his successor. He is a Bama alum and a Christian. He will fit in just fine.

Little Nicky's clock has been ticking now for a couple years.

Popping the blue pills now for awhile.

I've started a few posts saying he needs to hang it up while he's still on or near the top. Of course, on the SEC Rant I got down voted by all the Gumps. But look at Father Time, he never loses. Bobby Bowden, Woody Hayes, Joe Pa, shall I go on? Oh yeah, I forgot the one we forced to quit with the 20-10 beatdown, the Bear himself.

Nope. As long as they recruit 5* players by the dozen Saban is and will be in the mix every year. With a 12 team playoff in 2024. He was beat by a last second FG and a 2 point conversion by our FIGHTING TIGERS otherwise he is sitting at 12-0. Regretfully he will be around till he hangs it up at BAMA.

As anyone outside Tuscaloosa knows, þhey could have 6 commits and they would still have the #1 class. The services would just update and score each at 1609.2.
Who has the most first rounders, draft picks and Heisman winners since saban got there in 2007? Wanna guess which university also has the most national titles and playoff appearances?

The bama bump is real because Saban is the greatest college coach ever and he's better at evaluating talent than any Internet star guy. They don't bama bump to get Alabama at the top. They bama bump to ride sabans coattails.

Does is really matter? Bama has won natty's with much worse QB's.

Without Young they lose at least 2 more games this season.

LOL. No. Not even close.

#1 Recruiting classes, favorable scheduling, and of course, favorable officiating when needed. With a 12 team playoff, they would have to lose four games to be out of the discussion and that won't happen.
