Is okay to be concerned about the QB position?

Sure Brennan can put up some good stats but most of those stats are garbage time stats. He hasn't shown the ability to make plays when it counts.

Nuss has shown promise but he was inserted as a freshman under bad circumstances. He does display a nice arm and good mobility but tends to take unnecessary risk. Hopefully that's just a freshman thing and he will outgrow the stupid decisions this spring and summer.

Who knows with Howard. A highly ranked true freshman that will probably red-shirt.

The biggest issue is, if Nuss decides to transfer after spring ball. If so CBK will have to find another QB in the transfer portal. No way we can go into the season with only two scholarship QBs.

Brennan threw for over 1100 yards and 11 TD’s in three games as a starter

Brennan has played much more than garbage time and has looked good. Personally, I think he is going to surprise a lot of people.

No! I forbid anybody to be concerned about it.

OK, actually, yes. There probably is reason for a little concern. Hopefully that concern turns out to be ill-founded come September.

I know. Brennan is great between the 20s. But in the red zone and 3rd or 4th and short he struggles.

Huh? 1,112 of his 1,712 total passing yards and 11 of his 13 touchdowns came in 2021. So roughly 65% of his yards and 85% of his career touchdowns were not in garbage time.

I also don't see this as a huge concern, unless he hate Kelly and Denbrock. Nuss would be the obvious backup QB to a senior as a sophomore.

Remember our offense from 2008 to 2016 and you’ll feel better.

I think there is reason for concern because he hasn't seen game action since early 2020

I do think that he has the ability to play very well as he did show some flashes that year

There is also reason to be optimistic though

Myles Brennan is the best down field 20+yard thrower in the room as of today.

The problem with 2020 was the dogshit oline getting pushed around by miss state and fricking Missouri. Myles can be a great prototype pocket passer.

That stat could have been a whole season under the Miles offenses.

1st 3 games of 2020 he was balling out until he got hurt. Yes he made some mistakes and missed some throws that would have made even bigger plays. But the fact is he was improving the whole time. They would have been 3-0 in them games if he had any kind of a defense or running game behind him.

6/24 on third down as an offense

Ensminger was oc that year with Linehan as PGC

I think that had more to do with the PGC and play calling and a terrible oline. They couldn't run the ball at all.

25%.

That's not very good. This state supports my assertion:

He should be at least 50% on third down conversions.

I hope you are right because I feel like the OL and play calling can be easily fixed with the right personnel. I hope Brennan also improves in critical situations.

If you want to evaluate Brennan then here’s every single snap of his career. It’s 44minutes long but if you can watch it then I’ll take you serious.

I’ve watched it and think he shows development and I believe you will see him develop even more throughout the year. Dudes arm is fricking unreal. He’s got a quick release too.
If he just gets better over the year with good coaching and if the line gells like it should do, then we will be a good team.

He’s got weapons and a few rbs to take the pressure off when needed. He should be a better player than he’s ever been this year and that could be a special year.

The more I watch tape and think about the guys we have coming in the more bullish I am on this season.

Just think like this
The line is gonna be good
Wrs are always good to great
Rb has some experience coming back and some potential
The secondary is gonna be fine with the transfers
D line is a strength
We have like 20 linebackers , surely we can get a few to be serviceable under an nfl linebacker coach
Special teams may be an issue

All Brennan plays
