Kelly made it to a national championship game and 2 four team playoffs with ND... let's pump the brakes

Kelly lost by 28, 27 and 17 and was never in any of those 3 games. After each, observers pointed to his easy schedules and concluded he really didn't belong in those games.

Edit: Freeman just beat the SEC champion by 13

Notre Dame is pretty much where they were. The rest of college football has regressed.

This version of ND is very disciplined on defense and they play physical as hell

I'm not sure if it's a big difference from Kelly, but that really doesn't matter anymore

With their backup QB. ND had less than 100 yards passing.

The SEC was obviously better than they are now when Kelly was at ND. NIL and the portal has absolutely weakened the SEC’s grip on college football. There is not an elite team in the league.

With a backup QB. Let ND play without Leonard in playoffs with backup making his 1st start. Wow - this board is dumb.

They wouldn’t even be in if it was a 4-team playoff and we’d be hearing the former annual “does ND deserve to be in the NY6 after losing to (insert cupcake) at home?” debate.

And ND’s schedule this year is about what it’s always been so…

Georgia suffered a plethora of injuries.

First start for the most important position on the field.

Then Kelly should be eating up the weakened SEC.

Those teams ND loss to in the bcs and playoff would each win this version with ease.
Freeman is maintaining what BK built and that deserves props but ND isn’t better yet.
They won’t beat Texas or Ohio state.
They beat Indiana and Georgia’s backup qb. I agree on pumping the brakes for now.

Yeah imagine if they had to play against the QB that had 186 yards 0 TD/1 INT against Ole Miss or 175 yards 0TD/3 INT against Texas or 309 yard 2TD/3 INT against Florida...
