You obviously don't understand the tax code. One doesn't recover their donations via tax deduction. Depending on tax bracket, only a portion of contributions is allowed not dollar for dollar. There is no way to rationalize that argument for he average season ticket holder.

This isn’t true either. They did it last year also.

Against troy I saw people trying to find 6 people that wanted free tickets lower bowl. Those seats went unused.

Well in my case I have bought 12 season tickets for 31 years. I give them to friends and family. Not everyone can go to every game. I would think that logically, I should not be in competition with LSU if I want to sell a few games when all my tickets aren't used.

I agree that being a season ticket holder for almost any sport in this day and age is dumb. You can find reasonable priced tickets to 90 percent of events. The other 10 percent is on tv if the price is to high. Maybe the dump will allow people to see that. I just don’t believe people will cancel season tickets to stick it to the athletic department for doing that which is what i thought you meant.

Its more a function of the market with season ticket holders dumping tickets at an alarming rate for the best home game of the year. I bought a great parking pass earlier this week for 75 bucks that was listed at 350 to start the season.

I itemize and I was able to recover a couple hundred in fees. It's not a tax credit either just a small deduction. Of the 880 in fees I pay I would estimate I recover somewhere around 180 dollars.

So that's still 120 on top of face value per game.

As if a "write-off" makes TAF fees no big deal. You are still paying for it.

And if you don't itemize that "write off" is useless.

I'm reminded of Kramer from Seinfeld.

Kramer: "Just write it off Jerry. Write it off!"

Jerry: "You don't even know what a write off is do you?"

As a long time season ticket holder I'm dropping my 4 after this year. And if a fan like me is dropping them LSU is about to feel it next year.

Word is the LSU ticket office is dumping excess tickets below face value on Stubhub.

They’ve been doing this on Groupon/LivingSocial for a couple years now.

I think this game people are just in a panic lowering prices.

My seats are near the away section so likely I sold to some AU fans. That may be the only reason I got 126 for 110 face value this week.

Hence why the season ticket holders will not continue and it will eventually be aweful for LSU. But will likely force change! Why would any season ticket holder logically continue to take a complete bath on their tickets and parking passes if they can only get 1/4 of the paid value? There will definitely be a huge turnover come renewal time. Being able to come close to recouping the face value to unused tickets makes things more tolerable but as stated, their is a law of diminishing returns and we are past that. Add to it the donation requirement and things get really ugly!

If you have lower bowl tix, they will be purchased quickly by someone else. Where they are losing money is concessions/parking really.

The Box Office used to always do this on the Ticket Marketplace, random tickets would always popup on a Friday for big matchups, but it was always for Face Value + a transaction fee. They always have a certain amount of tickets held back for staff/families/vendors etc, then as gametime approaches they realize they don't use them all and sell them... The only news here would be they are selling them below face value.

I have moved seats every year I have had season tickets.

The last 3 seasons when I select there have been hundreds of lower bowl seats available.

Are you implying that if a season ticket holder dropped their tickets they could not get season tickets in the lower bowl again?

Exactly! And the news is that they are now undercutting those loyal to the university which is counted on as guaranteed income. Take the guaranteed income away and you have a situation where your program suffers. The ticket office should not offer tickets for $1 less than face value if they want to sustain long term profitability.

No they don't that is not true at all. That's an outright lie.

Seat selection is purely based on LSU Philanthropic ranking.

Donate your 100 each year to TAF and only people that will pass you are high dollar donors who are likely already ahead of you.

Ahhh..problem is, LSU makes it mandatory that you pay up front for TAF and season tickets BEFORE, you can upgrade or add new season tickets !
