He was well on his way to the Heisman in 2015 until the Bama game. LSU's O-Line got absolutely manhandled, we lost in embarrassing fashion, and the rest of the regular season was a disaster. It's crazy that Les was allowed to return in 2016. He was recruiting skill position players only by that time.

Nah. This is some made up revisionist history BS that’s created to fit a narrative.

The offensive line in 2015 featured 3 future NFL linemen in Jerald Hawkins, Ethan Pocic, and Vidal Alexander. Don’t tell me Miles was recruiting any quality linemen at that time.

Poor coaching and poor play calling led to that debacle from our entire offense that night. It wasn’t due to lack of talent on the O-Line.

Go back and watch Reggie….he was a better back than Leonard in college and probably in the NFL too…..

yeah. I'm not gonna do that and maybe you're right. but I've never seen a highlight reel game for any player like the one LF7 had against Auburn.

Edwards Helaire against Alabama was low key close. JD5 against Florida (which solidified his Heisman) Great games but that Auburn game had 4 absolutely incredible plays.

I think Clyde Edwards was the best in recent years at LSU besides Jacob Hester. I remember against Bama he got almost no yards in his final year

Great college career, bad high ankle. One of the most dynamic backs ever to come through LSU, top 5 for sure. Miles abused the shite out of him though.
The only guys ahead of him are 4 year guys, he’d easily be #1 in every rushing category with another season.

His NFL career was a success. 4 1k+ yd all purpose seasons and a Super Bowl. Clearly he’s still not a starter, but he has enough juice to be a good backup in the league. Teams can get someone younger and cheaper with less mileage though. If he doesn’t get a call later this season, then it’s probably over.

How would you compare LF7’s career to Michael Thomas though?
Both FAs now, same number of 1K+ total yard seasons, and LF has more yds and TDs than MT.

Fournette carried the Jags to the AFC championship when they lost 20-24 to the Patriots in his rookie season. That’s about as far as they’ve ever gone so I’d say Fournette at 1.04 was a success for them.

You should go back and watch Darren McFaddens games vs LSU in ‘06 and ‘07.

And I'm surprised no one's mentioned Adrian peterson. LF7 was the best back that I was a fan of but what some other backs have done in college in the past 30 years has been pretty special to watch, that's not taking one over the other and LF7 is in that talent category, but you can't deny the college output of others like Bo, Herschel, even Melvin Gordon

I don’t think he’s less talented but Henry has always been a grinder who’s singularly focused while Fournette wasted some of his early years with poor decisions and off the field nonsense.

Wrong.

For comparison - LF had 616 carries in 32 games played. Guice had 471 carries in 36 games played.

LF averaged 6.2 yds/carry even though every opponent knew what was coming and game planned for him, stacked the box.

I don’t think he’s in my top ten. I personally think Faulk is the best LSU running back ever with LF and Hillard tied for second

I would give Faulk, Hilliard, and Cannon a tie at first. Not sure what criteria would be the most appropriate to draw a meaningful distinction between them.

Best college running back I’ve seen is obviously Barry Sanders. I don’t see how anyone else is in the conversation.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of this kid from Boise State - Ashton Jeanty. His highlight reel looks to be something special.

2015 it didn’t matter what he did vs Bama he wasn’t winning it over Derek Henry.

he was the absolute favorite over Henry prior to the LSU/Bama Game

Bama shut down Fournette, and Saban gave Henry 320,615 Carries that game.

Heisman odds flipped instantly.

It's fair to say Fournette had a solid NFL career but was not worth the pick he was drafted at.

Like someone else said go watch Reggie. His USC days he was a human highlight reel. Like nothing anyone saw before.

as great as Reggie was, he wasn't on Barry Sanders' level.

Reggie Bush 2005 (13 Games): 1,740 Rushing ; 16 TDs ; 672 Return yards (PR & KR Combined) 1 TD
Barry Sanders 1988 (11 games): 2,628 Rusinhg ; 37 TDs ; 515 Return yards (PR & KR combined) 2 TD

Barry's bowl stats aren't included in his season stats.
so you can actually add 222 more rushing yards and another 5 TDs to those numbers

2,850 yards ; 42 Touchdowns
in only 12 games.

LF7 is the best back I’ve seen at LSU followed by Faulk, Cecil Collins, Joseph Addai and CEH. Outside of LSU top 5 college backs for me I’d go with Adrian Peterson, Ricky Williams, Eddie George, Darren McFadden and Reggie Bush
