He’s 27-11 at LSU (60%).. not great
That's more like 71%

How is Florida trending any more in the right direction than LSU looked like they were against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and the first half against A&M? Two good games in an overall mediocre season isn’t a trend.

Well , I actually watched the entire Florida game . I saw an energized team that tackled the best of any team in the SEC . They won against Ole Miss because they really laid the wood to them . Not in a dirty way , just really physical . They can do that , I think , becuz they must look at film and can anticipate . I am telling you they like to play for Sunbelt . I would not be surprised if next year they are top 4 to 6 at the end of the year . He has big bodied , quick guys … like LSU used to be . There were several plays where Ole Miss players left the field holding their mid sections ( ribs ? ). One hit they thought was surely targeting was just a dang hard hit in the chest . I think in the new era , with portal and NIL , it takes a while for teams to gel , especially if everybody is new . That is the way it will be and coaches will have to adjust . Like NFL light . If a coach can create an environment where they feel they can be developed and get some playing time and get drafted , even if not a starter , that is a leg up . I think you have to use the portal a little bit . I surely thought we would get some big bodied tall receivers thru the portal and maybe a big fast running back for this year … but NO dice . BK has to be more involved . He assigned somebody to the portal . He needs to give himself some assignments for 10 million a year .

He has been exposed as an 8-4 coach. That's what he is. You tell us if you think 8-4 is bad.

I believe he's a good coach....not a great coach! Definitely not an elite coach!

In over his head . Players lack size , power and speed . Undisciplined . Laugh at Sunbelt , he has things trending in the right direction … and he understands that special teams win games .
This is the LSU fanbase.
We have a head coach that has won 71% of his games and he's "in over his head."
Meanwhile, we're touting a guy who has won 47% of his games.
And this is all a knee jerk reaction to the last three weeks.

He has been exposed as an 8-4
And yet he has never gone 8-4 here

I couldn’t get through 10 posts on the 1st page after the OP before I had to bail. I would just like for those of you who not only think Kelly is really bad or that he sucks, please just tell me all the coaches you think are good. Besides Kirby Smart, who’s on your top 10 list? There are 130 (ish) FBS teams. Surely it will be super easy to find 9 more after Kirby that are good. Not even looking for great. Will take good.
Alright, 6+ hours and over 2 pages later since I threw out, by reading most of the responses, what should have a super easy challenge for most of you guys. Y’all have established Kelly either “sucks” or is “that bad” at best. I informed you there are 130 (ish) FBS teams, so obviously, 130 (ish) FBS head coaches. I asked for a simple list of 10 that you consider “good.” And I’ll spot you Kirby at 1, so all you have to do is list another 9. I’m not even asking you to show your work. Just 9 names. That’s it. Surely a few of you have the balls to step up and embarrass me. 9. That’s it. Go.

Ask this question this time next year. It will just be interesting to compare this thread to that one no matter how next year goes. But if we are 10-1 or something and looking like world beaters there will be some people shitting on him today that will be kissing his arse next year

He is the only not guy I can think of that totally rebuilt (fixed) ( rehabbed) 3 if lsu 4 teams. Most people don’t realize Notre dame was god awful when he took the job, he built Cincinnati

I think he’s okay at best. I wasn’t a fan of his hiring to begin with and just don’t think he’s a good fit for LSU or the SEC generally.
I’d say he is a good-to-very good coach who is actually a bad fit for LSU and the SEC. He obviously did something of merit to get the Notre Dame job, and he had a strong record while he was there - though it’s apparent some ND fans were ready for him to move on, and Tiger fans are seeing why.
The issues are magnified playing in the week-in, week-out grind of the SEC. Think about this - USC is at best the 7th best team
LSU will face this season, and probably more like 9th. It’s the 3rd best team ND will play.

I'm a Gator and therefore, very few here will take my reply seriously. I think Florida "appears" to be trending in the right direction due to the fact that after the A&M game it was a foregone conclusion that Napier was a dead man walking in Gainesville and it was just a matter of when, not if, he was gonna get canned. Then despite a slew of injuries to many starters, the players rallied behind the head coach. Obviously didn't win every game, but the on field effort and intensity was there. Add in DJ Lagway becoming the full time starter at QB, his hype coming out of high school, and guys like Saban on College Gameday praising Napier and the players for not folding after a disastrous start to the season, and here we are. Recruits appear to be noticing too.

This doesn't really make sense as his win percentage is very close to the same at both stops. (73% to 71%)
It isn't like he feasted on a weak schedule at Notre Dame and has been exposed in the SEC.

I think the bottom won’t fall out with Kelly, but given that in the new age of college football you have to win 3 to 4 big games in a row to win a national championship, I’ll believe he can do it when he’s holding the trophy. Nothing about BK’s Division 1 track record indicates he can pull it off. He kind of is who he is at this point.

If we're being honest, no one has proven the ability to do this, as of yet outside of Kirby and maybe Dabo.

After Kirby Smart, name one coach who has proven he can pull that off. Take your time. (Dabo has won 3 in a row before twice, so you can count him too). Who else ya got?

Ryan Day is a great coach

Kelly is a decent coach that clearly needs some great talent to field a good team. Let’s hope all the stars lineup for him at some point while he’s here, better happen soon though.
