Lets play UT more. In Austin, Baton Rouge and a neutral site game in Houston.

No problem with playing the ULLs, Tulanes, La Techs, and Southeasterns, we dont need to play all these Swac schools though. Maybe 1 or 2 per year with Houstons, southern miss, rice with a return trip thrown in

You're not going to get a Rice or Houston to come into The Box/Sjip Bertman Field for a Tues or Wed nite game. As in whatever we could pay them would not cover the costs for a one nite stand. And a home & home would cost us too much home game revenue. Go back to the preseason polls, check out all the SEC teams in the top 20, let alone the top ten. CPM will never go for a harder non conference schedule.

It cost LSU back in 2011 when they missed regionals.

What??? No it didn't. LSU had an RPI in the mid-20's. What cost them was not making the SEC Tournament.

Midweek non-conference games aren't going to prevent us from getting a top 8 seed if we're one of the two best teams in the SEC. They are great practice games to develop more pitching depth and give some bench guys a few at-bats. I don't care who we play during the week.

Now, I would love for us to bring in a big name baseball school for a weekend series before conference starts. That CSF series a couple of years ago was awesome.

know it's hard to get teams outside LA to come in without some sort of return trip but some of these games are really bad. Tulane has been down for a couple years now.

Seems not that ling ago in state teams were good and sometimes better than us.

No reason to play any other SWAC school besides Southern.

I've been saying this for years.

South Al is close enough for mid week. Lamar like this year.

Tulane (h&H), ULL (2 for 1), SELU (2 for 1 rotating H&H with ULL) and Southern should be the only in state teams we play every year.

Rotate the rest over the course of a few years and give them away games every once in a while.

I'd also like to see a neutral site game in North Louisiana, like at the stadium in Shreveport and play TCU, Dallas Baptist, or Oral Roberts, a good OOC team.

I don't think we'd miss out debt service payments by going from 3 mid week away games to 4 or 5 each year. Especially if there are multiple neutral site ones.

I like USM being kind of the permanent Pontiff classic team.

I don't have the link, but there was a nice article about a month and a half ago talking about how our schedule next season is going to be much more challenging (minute Maid Classic, round robin with some big names, a few random FBSteams coming in)...

The real problem is not with the in state schools or the mid week schedule. Its with the non conference weekend schedule.

Schedule better weekend series to start the year instead of putting SLU and Nich St on the weekend.

SLU and ULL are in the mix to make a regional this year and Tulane is usually in that group. Do home and homes with them during the mid weeks. Next mix in the Nich St, Southern, Grambling,Centenary, ULM, NLU.

Problem is it is hard to get good teams to come to the Box without a return trip. Maybe USM or Houston would do it but Rice or Texas.

Don't expect to see a game in Shreveport for midweek any time soon. The players and coaches used to hate making that trip. Leaving campus at noon. Not getting back until 2-3 am.

Losing 2 games to nebraska hurts Arkansas FAR more than the RPI of scheduling them helps......so no. I think LSU is fine considering they have the 4th RPI in the country.

I think you're wrong. LSU won the SEC championship in 2012 and was only a #7 national seed. Losing midweek games last year could have easily cost them that spot.

Playing 2 games on the road in Nebraska is a drop in the RPI bucket when you consider Arkansas hosted Western Illinois (3), UNO (2), and the Evansville Aces (3) in the first 2 weeks of the season. Those teams all have an RPI over 225.

For one game? That doesn't make any sense for those teams to do that.
