Depends...but certainly not back in my day when we had Tittle. We loved him thought of no other and not just because he played both ways.

I think there's fans of each QB on the roster. We are blessed with 3 SEC level QBs. I think Daniels realizes he needs to throw down field to be successful. Nuss is Nuss and does get the ball deep easily and some say Howard is the best QB on the roster. But starting at QB at LSU is not for a weak minded player because we are hard on them.

College football is full of traditions. This is one of ours, like the white goalposts and pre-game.

Tiger backup QB is all American every year, common knowledge.

Steve Ensminger over David Woodley
Timmy Byrd over Alan Risher

I'm 62 and it has always been like this.

He will have the stats people will used to justify him
Did you ever notice how some feel stats are only of value when they justify the position they support?
Any QB who helps my team win the West when we were picked fifth, beat Bama, and account for 3700 yards of O with 27 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing almost 70% of his passes is OK with me. I know, there are those pesky stats again. lol

Excepting JB9 LSU has had 20 years of mediocre passing game. The starting QB takes the heat, that's just the way it goes,Truth be told Les and Cameron were clueless.
Saban got it figured out pretty quick but then jumped ship to the NFL only to learn salary cap meant he could not out recruit his rivals
20 years hence the Saban recruiting system is creating a dynasty at Bama. I remember Bama's vaunted defenses and his smashmouth running attack.
But unlike Les realized the game had changed and he changed with it
Bama used to win game 9-3. Now they win them 63-17.

Just the stupid ones. The smart ones know that the coaches know the players better and will play the guy that gives the Tigers the best chance of winning.

Yes, unless we’re undefeated. This concept is not exclusive to LSU.

Yes but this season it's stranger than usual. The starting QB has passed for almost 3000 yards, with the help of his teammates we won the west and got to the SECCG, he was voted the team MVP by his teammates, announces his return and a small faction of "fans" proceed to meltdown because that player is returning.
I'm not saying he doesn't have things he needs to work on (as does his back up) or he's the best QB that walked into Tiger Stadium but to meltdown because he's returning and act like the head coach is an idiot because he's not starting who you want to start, is moronic.

Agreed. Burrow spoiled almost every LSU fan so now the barometer is sort of "set." Albeit unfairly, it's what any QB following him will be held to. Just today I saw posters saying Nuss is like Burrow because he throws deep downfield. I'll grant you (not you specifically) but I'll grant that Nuss has a better arm for the deep ball. The issue that arises is he presses and throws into double or even triple coverage and hopes for the best. And I'm not trying to tear this kid down. I know his family, in a roundabout sort of way. Won't get into specifics but I'm pulling for him to also be successful but right now, Daniels is better. He just is. Is he the best ever? Of course not and he'd even admit that. It's ok to pull for both to be successful. I don't understand why it has to be either this player or that player and if it's not this player, then the pouty pouts show up and whine incessantly. It's really bizarre.
That's unfair to any QB post Burrow because Burrow was a generational talent. Who knows when the next one will show up but to put unrealistic expectations on any QB after him is unfair.
Being hard on QBs and expecting results is one thing and that's to be expected, to a point. But what results are they exactly? Win games? Pass for X amount of yards in a game? What metric is the defining factor(s)?
I'm happy with a QB that protects the ball, wins games, has a good relation with his teammates, the coaches, most of the fans. If he throws downfield bombs and wins games, awesome. If he throws mostly dinks and dunks, but still wins games because of his mobility, that's ok too. The object is to win the game.

I remember a few. Mettenberger, for one. Matt Flynn for another. I can remember four or five others, but they are probably before your time - Risher, Bert Jones, Hodson.

I don't think that's exclusively an LSU thing.

I’m still pissed that Bryan Sparacino never got a fair shot
I guess you forgot Bama 1996 when he got exposed as a fricking fraud who didn’t know half of the playbook. We were the better team and got shut out with the SEC West title on the line thanks to him.
Maybe you are just kidding, but I was there. That one still hurts.

Tyler wasn’t questioned after people saw how bad Sparacino was. Davey was the QB most of the fanbase preferred in 2000 and absolutely unquestioned as the starter his senior year.

Lots of fans wanted Myles to play in 18 over Burrow and they weren't happy he was coming back in 19
