It looks like every hotel in Oxford is booked already, unless you're the type to pay $1000 a night. Am I out of luck if I want a last minute trip and want to stay in town for the bars after the game?

Yes.

In 2011 I bought tix off stubhub the morning of the game, grabbed my son and we marathoned it up there. headed back after the game and stayed in Canton. Drove home Sunday morning.

Do you think you can't buy alcohol in Oxford?

No, just saying that it's surrounded by dry counties and if you're planning to stay in a neighboring county as suggested in this thread then you could find yourself looking around for booze. We did in 2007, just giving a heads up that there are plenty of dry counties near oxford and laughing at the fact that they still exist at all!

or game day housing. We had luck with the latter last time useLES coached a game there.

Be prepared for some hillbilly, shite talking fans... The Grove is a very formal and polite, affair.

Is it possible? You have a car ? You have gas?

Then “yes” it’s very possible

Unless they shut the roads down for some reason

Went hunting in Tylertown, MS a few years back. Hunted at dawn, around noon we went to the Market Max to get some beers and had to learn the hard way that we were in a dry county.

Had to drive to Washington Parish to get booze and then drive back to camp.

precisely my point! People from here may not even realize that those silly dry counties exist and that roughly 1/2 the counties in MS are dry!
