AmMart had a shrine to him. Had to look up his wiki to recall his NFL career. Didn't realize he got a Super Bowl ring with the Giants.

That hit he laid on the Auburn kick returner in 2001 was legendary.

A complete football player. He took no plays off and was a very physical WR.

Great interview. Funny how when we reflect as older adults we learn how our priorities when we were starting out were far less important than what we thought.

Clayton is as responsible for the resurgence of LSU football as anyone when he signed here in 2001. I had the privilege of talking with him at a tailgate a few years ago. One of the nicest guys in the world and proud to call him a tiger.

I met him many years back at a Saints vs Bucs game in Tampa. They had a few tables set up with former Bucs players where you could get their autographs. So of course I saw Michael Clayton was there and definitely got in his line. It was hot that day so I opted for my LSU tshirt for gameday attire. When I was up in line I started heading his way and when he glanced up and saw my LSU shirt he smiled, stood up, came around the table and met me to shake my hand and give me a hug. He was excited to see an LSU fan. He went above and beyond taking pictures and chatting with us and even signed some additional items.

I have met a few pro athletes before and I cannot say any were more pleasant, outgoing, and genuine than Michael Clayton. All around wonderful experience meeting him for the brief period of time we did.

One of my favorites for sure! Good thing he didn’t follow D1 football or else he might have been a Seminole! Lol

I wonder if his career would have been different if he had been a safety. I know injuries killed him but that dude playing safety would've been unreal.

I watched him knock a dude out in JLs (maybe Dublins)

Guy was standing on the stage and Clayton was not. He jumped in the air and punched this dude in the face and knocked him out.

Was impressive.

I saw him at a game one time a few years ago and he couldn't have been nicer. Such a cool guy and one of my favorite Tigers ever.

Clayton was a highly recruited and talented WR that helped us win the NC. His work ethic, dedication and team first attitude was very anti-WR like

Yes. Caught the short pass to get the Tigers out of the hole then signaled a time out to set up the blue grass miracle. I can still see him catching those bubble screens and showing his absolute talent. Hellava a player

Was at that game. They kept replaying it on the jumbotron and the crowd went "oooooooh" every time it replayed while the trainers were attending to him

headhunter. The story is that Saban offered to take him off the kickoff coverage unit his last year and Clayton refused. That dude covered kickoffs (I'm not sure if was on the point coverage units) in every game he played for three years

Christian Life had one of the coolest stadiums and campus. It was really small, but tucked away down a hill outside of Pollard Estates was a great location. He is an absolute legend out of an obscure school. I’m pretty sure they don’t even exist anymore.
