Lemme know if this has already been posted, but this was some pretty good insight into Curry. Makes me happy to have him be an LSU Tiger and I can’t wait to see what he’s got up his sleeve come fall!

I don't think the RB situation is as dire as people make it out to be

Sounds like a very good young man who will give us his best.

I agree, I think people are expecting Clyde to be a 3/10 this season but I genuinely think he’ll end up being around a 7/10. Plus I think our freshmen will end up being pretty good. We won’t have a Guice or Fournette but we’ll definitely have a serviceable or even above-average run game IMO

this is why the burrow signing was so huge. without him it would have been a very questionable passing game paired with CEH and some freshman running backs. and nick brousette (the justin mcmilan of rb's).

It isn't. We just don't have an All-American in the stable (yet). Some of the young bucks have some tremendous upside. Still going to have plenty of yards on the ground, but it won't all be by one guy. CEH catching passes out of the back field is going to be a weapon no doubt.

I honestly think it was worse in the beginning of 2014.

LF7 took about 1/3 of the season for things to really slow down for him.

While he adjusted to the college speed, we relied on Magee and Hilliard.

Both those guys were solid but not elite in any fashion.

The dude seems like a hard worker. If he doesn't succeed, I don't think it will be for lack of effort.

I'm optimistic that between Curry, CEH, Provens, Burrow, Narcisse and our receivers we will be able to find ways to move the ball on the ground effectively.

It's only "dire" because of 2 reasons:

- We dont have a back on Guice/Fournette's talent level left
- We are moving away from running the ball to throwing it a lot more

People combine those 2 and think we have nobody, a RB by committee approach can still work out quite well, even without a true featured back. All about how you utilize the guys you have to their strengths.

My guess would be that we would see a 7% to 10% increase in passing plays overall..

IMO a 20% or more increase in passing would an very negative indicator overall...

Yesss, with a passing game threat, or QB option threat, it opens up the running game possibilities for our young backs. And who knows, maybe one of our veteran RBs turns into a Steven Ridley or Darrell Williams type reliable back.

No question.

I look at it a lot like the 2011 season. We had a stable of young backs, none of which were the LF/Guice type backs we’ve become accustomed to, but they all could be the hot hand in any game.

None of them had much game experience, as Ridley was the bellcow in 2010. Ware, Ford, and Blue were sophomores, with freshman Hilliard stepping up late in the season. And we also expected to have Hill in that group originally but they rose to the challenge even without him.

I see no reason why CEH, Brosette, Lanard, and Curry with even a bit of Provens can’t give us the same type of reliable options in the run game, especially since our WRs are loaded with talent, the OL looks very good, and we all expect the QB situation to be a real plus this year.

Granted, Ware was probably the most talented of all of the backs in both years and was a sophomore while Curry is probably our highest ceiling guy this year and is a true freshman, but I think CEH can be good enough to be the primary guy until Curry gets his feet under him.

We’ve seen guys from JV, to Keiland, to LF and even a guy like Hilliard all be able to step up by November of their freshman year in the past. If this staff can do the same with Curry this backfield all of a sudden becomes a strength, not a liability at all.

I still think O made mistakes not securing more at RB in both classes, but that doesn’t mean we are screwed by any means.

I dont Think people are really knocking the talent but our best backs are pretty young, and the way we’ve leaned on or RBs in the past you have to wonder who is stepping up.

I like CEH and Curry a lot but are they ready NOW? Idk.

I think Curry is going to endear to the fans like Jacob Hester did. He just comes off as a team player and someone that fights and claws for those extra yards

I'm excited for Curry to arrive and think LSU will be more than okay at RB.

Tae Provens may be the perfect back along with CEH for the LSU offense.

Versatile offensive threat that can lineup in the slot or in the backfield. Ran for 1,285 yards as a sophomore while splitting carries ... Also caught 46 passes, returned five kicks for scores and tallied 17 touchdowns during the 2015 season ... Followed his stellar sophomore season with 1,264 yards and 17 TDs as a junior in 2016 ... Was limited during his senior season due to injury ..

final stats from LSU football's spring game

Clyde Edwards-Helaire: 14 rushes, 74 yards, one touchdown

Tae Provens: five rushes, 56 yards, one touchdown

Nick Brossette: eight rushes, 20 yards, one touchdown

Lanard Fournette: six rushes, 18 yards, one touchdown

This is the weakest the LSU running back position has been since 1994. That may change with Curry coming in, but from what we saw in the spring, this is reminiscent of the Curly Hallman days when it comes to running back talent.
