Washington running stats .

33 carries
102 yards
3.1 yards per carry

RB 1 - 17 carries 75 yards 4.4 per carry
RB 2 - 7 carries 36 yards 5.1 per carry

Those two running backs account for 24 of the carries and 111 yards which is 4.6 yards per carry . We don’t be need to be extremely deadly throwing the ball. All Ensminger has to do is spread them let Joe make intermediate passes and allow our runningbacks to control the game . Auburn will load the box early so if we have any screens or quick slants , we better use them now . I trust Brossette to get some tough yards for us to grind this baby out .

Also remember Kevin Steele runs a 4-2-5 Nickel scheme . The strength of the defense is swarming and using the safeties to contain . The weakness of that defense is the two linebackers situated in the middle . Perfect game to have Tory Carter back . If our Guards can at least move a DT tackle out the way and Carter meets up with one of those backers , expect Brossette or one of our other backs to be one on one with a free safety .

Example

Fournette first run of the game , weak side linebacker gets washed and the safety wants no part of the tackle . Is Brossette Fournette ? Hell no , but he has vision and is a strong runner who has shown he can hit the hole and break one .

Example 2 at the 5:12 mark

Washington comes out in an ace set and both of the guards lead up to the linebackers and running back is 1 on 1 with safety and he breaks a big run .

GEAUX TIGERS !

Also they play a lot of man to man . Unleash our big wideouts

This can't be overstated. Unlike a lot of sky screamers around here. I think we are going to win this game. It'll be like most LSU vs AU games. Ugly and close.

I really hope our offensive staff will plan and play-call accordingly.

Ensminger has been promising an offense tailored to LSU's strengths since day 1.

Hopefully this is the week it comes to fruition.

Amazing post, thank you sir. Its so nice to have someone actually talk football rather than all the O&E talk.

Does Kevin Steele still get so nervous before games that he vomits and passes out? I remember hearing stories from Clemson before he came to LSU that he was a nervous wreck.

Yea I expect LSU to run some ISO. I also expect LSU to use some zone schemes to try to get Auburn's backers to over run the play and have the back cut it back against the grain. That last vid you posted at the 5:12 mark is a good example of this.

We need to be able to block their front 4 and make them have to get out of their comfort zone

Their defensive front has been good enough to handle people to where they can dictate the game plan to the offense

If we can get those guys blocked and make them adjust we will have success

And we have an OC who is sleeping in his office to scheme for this game. Nerves are high on both sides. It's unlikely that the loser Saturday has any shot at making it to ATL in December.

Both AU and LSU have UGA on the schedule this year, Saturday's game is really a must win for both or the road to ATL becomes nearly impossible.

In all seriousness this is a great post. Clearly stated position with facts and examples to back it up.

Can someone explain to me what this means? What is the summary of? It's not the summary of RB1 and RB2.

The other 9 carries were from a running back who ran it one time for -4 and the other 8 carries were from the quarterback and he was sacked on 5 of those so they weren’t actual running plays .

It just means that there was a net loss from sacks and rushes taken by browning. The YPC was reduced a good bit because of this, but actual rushing attempts were more successful

However, what is alarming is they got to the QB 5 times behind the line. He was running for his life. Our OL better shape up in a hurry

Earlier this week I predicted Stephen Sullivan to be our offensive player of the game for this reason.

Washington had their chances to beat auburn and simply didn't make the plays when they needed to. Washington didn't impress me at all either. We have more talent that Washington for sure and they gave auburn all they could handle. We have a good chance to win this game. Our defense will keep us in it no matter what, but I expect ensminger to really open up the offense and run formations/plays that we haven't seen yet this season. Geaux Tigers. We comin'.

Interesting fact about Auburn D, their DBs never look for the ball in coverage and their DLine gets winded on sustained drives. Auburn caught some big breaks in this game resulting in points, 1) great punt return & 2) INTs on an errant throws during big Washington drives near/in the red zone.

Offensively Auburn tends to get cute with play calling and it ends up biting them in the second half, this is well documented with Gus. We all know that Stidham has issue with the rush and tends to break down after a few hits which will play big for our Tiger defensive secondary. Auburn also has a fumbling problem in addition to issues with punting.

Through 2 games LSU has established ball security, sound ST play, and ability to create turnovers. All we have to do is play sound football and minimize penalties to get a victory on The Plains.

Why everyone is doom and gloom about this game is beyond me. We played against a really good DLine vs Miami and dominated, Auburn is no different. The RT spot will get cleared up with Deculus so everyone chill.
