Info on Leavitt’s surgery

Leavitt had Lisfranc surgery in November. Would be unavailable for spring and maybe not fully recovered until September or October.
“Impact on Athletes
These injuries are particularly difficult for quarterbacks and runners because the midfoot is essential for "push-off" power and explosion. While roughly 81–94% of elite athletes eventually return to play, it often takes 10–11 months to achieve pre-injury performance levels. Some athletes may experience permanent loss of mobility or a slight decline in speed and agility. “

This isn’t exciting for me to hear as our future QB.

It's not ideal in a transfer situation (especially if we're paying $5+ mil). It'll be tough to get on the same page and timing with basically a completely new offensive staff and personnel.
If we can survive the first month or so of the season, however, I think we'll be happy with having him here. Hopefully he doesn't lose mobility.

There is precedence during Saban’s first few years at LSU

Shouldn’t have let Sorsby get away. Leavitt is a gamble.

we went through this with matt mauck

There's a reason he fell to visiting the likes of Kentucky. They're desperate enough to take a chance. I wouldn't auction the farm for him.

We didn’t “let” him get away. This isn’t a hostage situation.

I take it this was the injury in the Florida game for Mauck. What was his recovery time?

Then you should’ve gotten on the phone with Sorsbys girlfriend and did your best to recruit her to LSU. Because that would’ve been LSUs only shot.

So what you are really trying to say here is, LSU is pretty much fricked at QB in the portal now?

Should have locked him in the ops building until he signed for sure.

Maybe LSU can use this as an enticement for another highly rated QB to sign as well, telling them that there's no guarantee Leavitt will be ready by the season.

I’d rather land Knight than Leavitt at this point.

Matt was with the team before though, no?

Have we signed him yet? I don’t think so.
Posted on 1/4/26 at 11:23 pm to TIGERS58030719
That's why we will get 2 good QB's if we land Leavitt.

The armchair WebMD diagnoses are exhausting. LSU has team orthopedic surgeons who will determine the actual severity of the injury and establish the recovery timeline based on imaging and intra-op findings not internet speculation. The only confirmed fact is that surgery occurred. No one outside the physicians involved know the pathology or whether fixation involved a screw versus a plate. LSU will make decisions based on their physicians’ evaluations. If he signs with LSU, he’ll be cleared and ready for the season.
