are there good bars in the neighborhoods/area near the stadium for pre game drinking and meals?

Depends on if you want to get shot or not, full body armor is recommended imo.

You definitely don’t want to be around that area after dark

Indy bowl is west of I-49. Everything in Shreveport is awful West of I-49. Shreveport does have enough to do though.

Herby K’s, Superior steakhouse and grill, The Cub bar, Casinos, Earnest’s, Chianti, I think there’s a restaurant in a old shotgun house in the Highlands that is pretty cool, Bossier area people talk about (frozen pirogue, beauxjax) is good. That’s about it, blind tiger downtown too. Nightlife Id do is just Superior grill or steakhouse, best looking women and not trash like the cub or casinos

Save Flying heart, you listed possibly the worst restaurants in Shreveport-Bossier...take a lap

BeauxJax sucks. We went there after a work meeting and a co worker got something sauce picante. I looked at it and I said “that’s not real”. I took a bite snd and it straight marinara sauce.
Bayou Axe throwing next door is cool

LSU should play 2-3 games per year there like Arkansas did with war memorial stadium or Alabama did with legion field.

It’s a solid stadium and would be a big thank you to the north Louisiana fans

What do y’all think?

First, Independence stadium is now in the, well let’s just call it an underprivileged neighborhood. Safety is not guaranteed.

Second, the Independence Bowl no longer has SEC tie-ins.

Maybe start making plans for the Gasparilla Bowl or the Mayonnaise Bowl, but don’t book anything non-refundable.

However, Bossier 'downtown' has a few cool breweries and bars that are nice. Names are Frozen Pirogue, Flying Heart, BeauxJax Crafthouse.

Casinos are always fun to hit up for out of town folks (Horseshoe, El Dorado, Margaritaville are the best 3)

Nothing near the stadium unfortunately.

I concur. There are others but haven’t been to any in years.

The SEC does not have a contract with Indy Bowl.

Even if LSU gets 6 wins, which it won’t, LSU cannot go to this bowl.

It's horrible, and flying pirouge is even worse. The burger I got was identical to LSU concessions....my wife got pulled pork sandwich that I'd bet my life was boil in bag.

What's funny is I know a very small group of people who live at those places....but of course they the typical we never cross the river Bossier or die type lol
