I wasn't, and if he can put together a 9 or 10 win season next two years with the qb's we have then I still won't be. I understand that it is tough to win, and college football is a roller coaster ride. We didn't fall as bad as Miami, and hopefully next year will be better.

Give up the rope, man. It's killing what's left of your brain cells.

Yes and no. It's tough to win if you're Vandy or Kentucky.
It's shouldn't be tough to win if you're LSU right now. And if it takes 3 to 4 years to string together a run towards the SEC, then something is seriously, seriously wrong.

It's tough to win? If Chad Jones isn't on the field we lose to Miss St. Teams are getting better there are coaches at every school know that know what their doing. (exclude Houston Nutt I think he's drunk all the time)
With high school weight programs around the country getting how they are smaller schools are getting players.

But Larry Coker and Phil Fulmer won conference titles and national titles. Bowden won multiple national titles at FSU. You can't live in the past. Quite frankly Les Miles has not been very good the past two seasons. Winning a national title shouldn't be an excuse for becoming a mediocre football team.

That statement proves you are clueless or only a shite stirring troll.
Mediocre football teams don't play 1/1 in the biggest SEC bowl outside the BCS.
Tell me you are not as stupid as you sound.

I had seen him work the Ok State vs Okies game.
I was not impressed. He made mistakes twice in the second half.
Sorry.
He's a good guy with a lot of positives. He's ok.
What I saw in that Ok State game told me he was not ready to accept the glamor that comes with big time football winning programs.
He is in trouble now. Someone better strap on their balls this summer. We need a QB. Maybe two, since JJ runs the ball.

What's so wrong with my statement? Had LSU not won it all in 2007 and the 08/09 seasons went the same, would people be so quick to defend Miles now? It's now two years in a row that the team has nearly imploded after the Bama loss. I'm happy we won it all in 2007, but it's not 2007 anymore. The program has changed since then.

Les Miles has proven that ANYBODY can win a championship at LSU, but it takes more than just anybody to maintain consistent success

You didn't say it changed from 2007. You said the team had become mediocre.
The SEC, the Capital One Bowl, the AP, and the Coaches poll all disagree with you, but don't let that stop you from crapping on the football team.

I'm so sorry for offending your sensibilities. It was more of a Miles rant.

.500 in the SEC since winning the title sounds pretty mediocre to me.

or all who can remember the Cholly Mac days, how many times did we hear similar discussions about LSU "almost-wins" and "what if it had ended differently?" what might have beens? Point was, typically Alabama and the other big names would beat LSU (with some exceptions) in those big games and the Tigers would again take their spot in the also-ran category, year in and year out. After all that has been accomplished in the past decade, I hate to think we're regressing to that old pattern. But I just don't see CLM as the man with the plan to keep LSU at the top instead of 3rd or 4th and ranked in the mid to high teens at season's end.
The point wasn't to make the team sound better than it was, the point was to say that for the first 3/4 of the season, we were in the national championship picture. That fact tends to get ignored.

I'd much rather see LSU playing and competing at the top versus strong conference rivals. A victory over a strong rival is much more satisfying than beating a sick puppy team. I remember how good it felt to beat then-mighty and favored UGA at home in 2003.
As would I, but that simply does not characterize the dynamics of the division next year. I do imagine that Gator and Tide fans would have taken more satisfaction from their victories had LSU managed 10 or 11 wins rather than 8 or 9, but that was not to be.
The balance of power is cyclical. We've been at the bottom for a bit and seem to be on our way back up.. if we don't manage 10 wins I'll be sorely disappointed and it will have me questioning the direction of the program, but I did see strides in the right direction last year.

Another cherry picker.
You need to get over 2008 and move on to 2009. When you pay your taxes do you combine your 2008 earnings with your 2009 earnings or do you pay them individually? It works the same way in football. 2008 was 2008 and 2009 is 2009. The world has moved on, why can't you?
The AP, Coaches, Capital One Bowl, and SEC didn't judge LSU off 2008 and 2009, but off 2009 and found them much better than mediocre. Why don't you do the same.

That was based off our preseason ranking which is based off our reputation. I have a feeling the polls will not be as generous with LSU next season. After The Chik Fil A against GA Tech, it looked like LSU had fixed its QB and defense problems. After the blunders at the end of 2009 and our QB issues, I think LSU (Miles in particular) has exhausted its good will with the rankings.

The quote FROM YOU that I was responding to:

So...again...from 2007...which is the timeframe you set...Miles is .500 in the SEC. It's not like LSU went 1-7 in 2008 and 7-1 in 2009 to get to that mark, which is the way you are acting. They were 3-5 and 5-3 with 3 games that EASILY could've gone the other way. Mississippi State was a yard away. Georgia was one of the worst unsportsmanlike calls away. Arkansas was taken to OT. If you can't see the marked decline of LSU's football team since Miles has had 100% his players you're blind. I look forward to this year with optimism, but you're being naive about the past 2 years.

He went 51-15 over 5 years and won a BCS championship. How is that hire not graded at least an A-, if not better?

I don't think anything has changed other than MSU got a little better with a coaching change and LSU got a little weaker against the teams that used to be a sleepwalk of a win.
I don't know if you can appreciate how LSU used to dominate opponents at one time that we would likely struggle with to beat now.

I didnt know who he was at first.
Now, I am still very supportive and appreciate what he has done. The program has grown, been clean (for the most part), and recruiting has flourished. The last couple of years have been problematic, but the problems have always been addressed with solutions that have a high probability of success. The co-defensive coordinator thing was somewhat "in vogue" and worked well for some programs, just not LSU. Injuries hurt last year (especially tailback) along with offensive line chemistry, and the lack of experienced quaterback play hurt the year before (but that was done for the betterment of the program). But, most importantly, coaching changes have been made were definate problems have presented themselves. I believe this year we will see changes for the better.
