You donate a ton of money to get rid of BK, you donate a ton of money to get some better players, you donate a ton of money for LK.

At the same time of the season you are one game better winning (5-4 vs 6-3) overall and one game SEC record wise (2-4 vs 3-3).

What positions improved this year over last for your money? (im not looking for monstrous improvements just improvements)
QB- yes. I think SL>GN with ability to run and not just launch a prayer
RB- absolutely.
OL- yes
WR- yes
TE- yes due to more experience and somewhat better use (though not optimal)
DL- yes
LB- probably about same without Weeks maybe slightly worse
EDGE- hugely better
DBs- better

So we improved across the board at least somewhat player wise but yet it hasnt translated to as much as I would want had I chunked out all that money.

I would really be disappointed in game management that I was paying for. Guys with that kind of money are used to mostly flawless completion of tasks by upper level management. That isnt whats happening here. Lots of poor judgment going on for a seasoned head coach.

Zero ROI. How is going to ask these people for more money again this year. Hanny said they were grumbling after the UK loss but felt better after the two wins. No way they happy now.

If I am them, I pull my money and let predator protector Verge and Kiffin earn it the hard way.

Imagine giving kids millions of dollars to run around in tights. Period. They get what they deserved. They were key in ruining the sport. The only solution is for all of them collectively stop wasting their money.

And not giving two f’s about that big money you gave the school. Do you actually think the people with that kind of money gives a crap about giving it? If they did, they wouldn’t give it in the first place. That’s like $100 to them

You're actually pretty close you just have a QB that makes bad decisions. It was the best QB you could get at the time. Being only a one win improvement so far is still improvement. The program under Kelly was getting worse.

Guys with that type of money are also as not as reactionary as your average ranter

You can see areas we’ve come a long way in but still have foundational issues that are tough to fix in just one offseason. The talent level is improving, the offense is worlds better despite a poor OL, recruiting is looking good, you’ve gotten tons of national attention this year, everything is trending up. These are the things that matter, people are acting like we hired Kiffin for one season.

totally agree. the season is disappointing, but it is year 1 and there's a lot to fix. and 5 sec road games is rough. the team does need to win a game vs a good sec opponent though.

i sitll think we will come out of this better than ole miss. they are stuck with golding, and they are only going to get worse. i could be wrong, but i think LSU will only get better.

You’re asking why we should care about donors who support the football operations? Weird position, edgelord. Without money, we have no team.

Don’t think they didn’t know what could happen this season ,LK discussed this with them b4 he took the job.We all knew it was a pipe dream to expect a well oiled machine this year ,if you did welcome to reality.

Brutha how do you think A&M, Oregon, Michigan, Ohio st., Ole miss, Oklahoma, Florida feel? Its not just LSU. I think we are going to have to temper expectations. You can't just buy a national championship anymore. Its year one. It takes some luck to get a return on investment no matter where you stick your money. We got a ton of dead money on this team that won't be here next year. Caden Durham, Jayce Brown, Harlem Berry, H. Longstreet, to name a few..

Maybe so. But they are also good at making sound investments. And right now one can argue that no donor base is getting LESS of an ROI than LSU

That meeting this summer at the Governor's mansion about NIL funding was not because LSU had some revolutionary plan to raise money. It happened because the donors have grown weary of constantly being hit for massive investments. The behind the scenes Will Wade battle was indicative of that. LSU sucked something awful in basketball for 4 years. Bringing back the guy who previously won, was well liked by basketball fans, and was preferred choice of the governor, school president, and BOS chair seemed like a no brainer. Yet, there was a lot of struggle. Not because the donors though McMahon was good. But they were tired of getting hit for endless sums of big money.

In 2021 they were asked to fund O's buyout 1.5 years after he won the NC. It seems small now, but at the time it was a big sum. LSU wanted a splash hire. So the donors were asked to commit to a 10 year $100M contract to hire ND's coach. After three years the results weren't good enough. So the donors were hit to spend a massive sum to secure the #1 portal class. Halfway thorugh the season the results weren't good enough. So they were asked to commit to pay to fire the HC. Then they were asked to commit a ton to hire the next "splash" HC and his expensive staff. Then they were asked to fund a very expensive roster. All with the expectation it would produce results better than what wasn't good enough last year. Then they were asked to pay a ton to hire a basketball coach.

A year and tens of millions later the on-field results are basically the same as they were last year at this time. Only this time it was Alabama blowing you out at home for your 3rd loss instead of Texas A&M.

I can see a world where the donors say "go prove it before we commit to giving your more money" (more being in excess of what they were willing to pay this year). Particularly when they are seeing other programs have more success for the same or less money.

Why wouldn't it be? You hired the HC from a team that had 50+ new players on its roster last season, including a 1st year starting QB, RB, multiple OL, and top 3 WRs and went 11-1. With 50+ new players it was essentially "year 1" for Ole Miss last year too.

And LSU fans weren't even expecting 11-1 and a spot in the CFP semifinals. Most felt 10-2 and simply an appearance in the CFP was a reasonable goal. Instead, you still haven't beaten a team with a winning SEC record. You lost to a perennial SEC doormat who itself has its own 1st year HC with 40+ new players, and you just got blown out at home against one of the weaker Alabama teams in 20 years

Last year with HC making $10M and the top ranked transfer portal class LSU had not beaten an SEC team with a winning conf. record, had two one score losses on the road to two good SEC teams, and just suffered a third loss in a second half blowout at home. At that time it was "fire this a-hole!"

A year later LSU has not beaten an SEC team with a winning conf. record, had two one score losses on the road to two good SEC teams, and just suffered a third loss in a second half blowout at home. Now "it's just year one. What do you people expect!"

Do you not think they are aware this needs 2 transfer cycles? They aren't going anywhere. Now, if we don't roll year, then there are problems.

Imagine being so rich, but so insecure about yourself that you spend millions to buy a kid to play for a team hoping to win a championship so you can feel like a winner, even though you did nothing but write a check.

I love football, but hate this system. This waste of money could be used for so many better things, like for the kids being treated at places like St. Jude.

Imagine being a big money person who spends millions of dollars a year to fund college kids playing a game that used to be free.

Honestly I think people in that position understand Lane is going to get us where we need to be. Does lane need to do better? Of course. But only a fool is writing Lane off at this point. Ask me after the Texas and Tennessee games.
