Is what it is at QB these days, only 1 guy is gunna play ultimately and pretty much every QB wants to play. It's hard to stick around for 3-4 years as a backup somewhere hoping you may get your shot finally as a 4th-5th year player in many cases.

yup

before the portal and NIL, trant would shite on any player that chose to transfer or commit elsewhere...basically chocking it up to the ole their scared of competition excuse.

thought it bullshite, wtf would any talented player ride the bench for 3 years if they had an opportunity to play somewhere else much sooner?

guess it took the portal and NIL for them to come around

Everyone outside of his house could have told you what would happen but depth is necessary

Just because they are rated higher, doesn't mean they're better.

Especially with QB ratings. It's the most hit or miss out there and VERY political. Because it's the position least reflective of measurables (and yet recruiting is almost solely based on measurables).

Some guys are backups

Wow! You sure are writing him off early. As someone else pointed out, Georgia won a couple of nattys with a walk-on QB who beat out multiple 5 stars.

In your career, if you seek out opportunities that surround you with mediocrity… you’re gonna wind up mediocre. Best chance to be the best is to surround yourself with the best.

It’s not what Joe Burrow did. Each case is different, and rules of thumb are for inside the box thinkers.

He should be positive. He has one of the best QB coaches in the NCAA. He can learn the proper mechanics to optimize his chance of success. No matter if he becomes the starter, he will be better prepared, for his next opportunity.
Being a five star, best in the nation recruit doesn't guarantee success.
Michael Penix was a three star. Tennessee commitment, but Tennessee pulled his offer.

He’s still getting a real quality education. And I think he knows it.

Isn’t that all that really matters?
