I'm surprised some here are excited about a 14 point loss.

I didn't get to see the game but I'm damn sure will watch the re play to see what all the excitement is about. It must have been one hell of a loss because I have never seen LSU fans excited about a double digit loss.

I haven't seen many people excited that we lost. Some people just noticed improvement in certain areas

Improvement, or just doing something differently?

OL and DL played well. Think "encouraged" is the word more than excited. It was frustrating and painful to sit through, and the opposite of exciting.

LSU did not look outmatched or overpowered. It appeared to be a game between 2 good football teams where the home team was better in the red zone and made a couple of big plays when they needed it. The better team won, but the difference did not look insurmountable.

It looked like if the teams just played each other 12 times this season, it would have been 7-5 in favor of Bama.

Now, having said that, most years of the Saban era, LSU has beaten them or given them a good game. In fact, since the 2002 embarrassment in Tiger Stadium, LSU has not held its own (or won outright) in the big game and the 2013 contest in Tuscaloosa. During that stretch there have been 2 OT losses in Tiger Stadium, another loss by 1 score in Tiger Stadium (2012), and a 9-point loss in Tuscaloosa in 2009.

So, playing them close isn't new. Not feeling outmatched does seem new, at least since 2011 (or, more properly, 1/9/2012).

I think a lot of people expected to lose by more and expected to be physically dominated by Alabama. That didn't happen. We showed a lot more as a team in many areas than many thought we would.

Definitely saw improvement. That was the best overall game we’ve played against Bama in years. If we had a mobile QB or if Etling would’ve been more accurate it would’ve been closer. He missed too many open receivers. Defense only gave up 1 long drive and had a bunch of 3 and outs. Even though we lost we made more progress and the future looks bright.

Not at all excited about losing.....no moral victory crap either....but encouraged by the mentality and fight of the team, pleased by the offensive approach and overall encouraged going forward.....we MUST win the last 4 games and this seem possible now.....this team has come a long way. Not one is excited

Pleased at our line play and an ability to get some yards. Open receivers being hit we would win

It's the rant. These idiots think coach O was a good hire.

Are you really surprised those same people are saying this was a good 14 point loss? And those goal post for O keep moving.

Why are you guys re-writing our history? There have been quite a few times we haven't been outmatched vs Bama. Heck, in the 2012 season we totally dominated them defensively in the 2nd half. Is it just an O thing or are you trying desperately to be positive?

No one really expected a win, but many were pleasantly surprised with the effort and ability to actually play with Bama for much of the game.

It's kind of like how garbage time touchdowns narrow the score but everyone states that the game wasn't really as close as the score indicates. This 14 point loss wasn't as bad as it sounds.

And what will the excuse be in 2018 when we are 8-4 or 7-5? It will be all about how 2019 or 2020 will be the year. Pathetic. Hope I am wrong, but I am not optimistic.

It's amazing how far expectations have fallen for some with this new regime. The team does look better but a double digit loss is a double digit loss no matter how you try to spin it. This is some crap you would read over on the Tulane message board when they lose a "close " one.
