the real issue is that these calls/nocalls are so inconsistent. Devin White gets targeted by the SEC officiating crew and an unnamed linebacker at (insert team here) makes a brutal hit on a QB and no flag from an SEC official that is standing 10 ft. away. POS SEC REF's.

:sigh:

Devin whites hit was a bad call but it in no way is similar to the play from yesterday.

Fitzgerald was standing in the pocket delivering a pass and was considered a defenseless player.

Burrow was running the ball past the line of scrimmage and had given up his defenseless player status.

This stuff really isn’t hard guys.

There was a thread on the sec rant with an Auburn fan saying to take out Joe’s knees. It was wacked and the post history and all was removed but they definitely wanted him to be taken out. The fans, players and coaches.

Malzahn obviously told the team to try and take out Burrow. Two very dirty plays, and they weren't even penalized on the helmet-to-helmet play.

Because helmet to helmet isn't a penalty on a runner. There wasn't one instance if targeting in the game yesterday. Not even a close one.

Had Delpit or Stingley made that hit and be flagged your bleeding vagina would be all up in here bitching about the pussification of football

Agree with that. The targeting rule should be thrown out of the rule book.

I was reading this thinking, no big deal.

Burrow said it was a clean play himself.

Then I saw the clip on Twitter. Holy shite—that was brutal targeting.

Props to JB for shaking it off. Dudes got a hard head.

Malzahn told his player to fake an injury, and he clearly did, told them to go after Burrow and hurt him, and they clearly tried. LSU fans need to stop being so ignorant. To some coaches like Malzahn it’s winning at any costs.

How about instead of being an a-hole to someone, you attempt to teach someone why it wasn't targeting.

You know Malzahn told his players to go after Burrow and hurt him? Did you hear him say this?

This is nothing but slander.

When I think it was Dillon made the bonehead move and got called for unsportsmanlike, that could technically been a targeting call. When CEH was running out of bounds there was a pretty obvious helmet to helmet that didn't get called. Tit-for-tat. Glad they aren't as flag happy as they were last year with it.

Laugh all you want. Helmet to helmet is only a penalty on a defenseless player. A runner is not a defenseless player. The only time it would be a penalty is if the defender used the crown of the helmet which was not the case in this game. Learn the rules.
