Woody is a homeboy so I’m sure he has a bunch of old high school buddies and frat brothers who defend him on the site just because he’s a friend. Nothing wrong with that, but he clearly wasn’t a great AD.

On paper, they looked like good hires. McMahon was 153-67 at Murray St. and considered an up-and-comer in the coaching ranks. Brian Kelly was the 263-95. Most people outside of ND thought that ND was holding him back, not vice versa.

I suppose you would remove the National Championship trophy and info from record books.
You can make fun, but O is still one of only four Champions in LSU history and had the best team in the history of the sport.
You can celebrate Kelly as Wanna Be Champion $$$$$ if you like.
If there was a trophy for wasting the most money.

I don't really care about Woodward one way or another but didn't the BOS have to approve Kelly's contract? It seems they're getting off without any kind recourse when they were definitely involved with the hiring.

Yeah that or I guess it’s a lot of women’s gymnastics fans on this board.

Which 2?
How about the 2 major wins and Natty holders for LSU, Mulkey and Johnson.
If you’re going to talk bad or strike outs give him credit for the home run hires.

Find a better choice for the LSU AD position than Woody.

He did some good things and he did some bad things
His failing was Kelly and caving in to the NCAA on Wade
His successes were Johnson, Mulkey, Clark and his ability to fund raise.

His predecessor hired a NC winning coach in football and a SEC champion in basketball.
Both for cheap too….
Think about that.
Joe friggin Alleva has higher hit rate than Woodward

I still wonder if that was not Woodward's mission from the beginning. He harmed both programs so far as I am concerned.

Woodward was also responsible for LSU hiring Bo Pelini. He even considered Bo for the HC job at Washington when he was the AD there.

Washington athletic director Scott Woodward and Nebraska coach Bo Pelini are old friends, both with ties to LSU.

What so many are failing to realize is that in this day and age college athletics is all about the brand. There is no other school that comes close to LSU the brand. Under Woodward, LSU the brand took off. What was it? 6 or 7 national championships across all athletics?
Yes, Football & MBB are the money makers but exposure is priceless. It’s the reason enrollment has skyrocketed in the last few years and LSU is turning people away.
Look at all the household names that aren’t football or MBB- Angel, Livvy, Skenes, Flau’jae, Mondo, Sha’Carri. Hell, even the Tiger Girls went viral for their championship. We have a tuba player in Tiger Band that made national news & was just featured on a national talk show yesterday. That is priceless.

Y’all need to stop acting like it was a bad hire at the time. The revisionist history is ridiculous.

You are not an LSU fan if you merely consider baseball to be an Olympic sport. Therefore, your opinion about Woody, or anything else, is irrelevant.

In sports that matter? He absolutely does.

Most of us saw the stupidity of hiring Kelly when it occurred but the simple fact that Oregon had given up coaching after he decided there was nothing he could do to surpass his resume of 2019 and tanked the entire program led fans to overlook all of what you described.
The buyout clause by this AD was a lot more than ignorance. It was a designed fraud on the University.
