They have every right to be at the game and not be subjected to vulgarity

Other fans have the right to be there as well and chant as they please.

Seems to me the people "offended" by that one sentence have two choices:

1) Simply tell your children (assuming they even can understand what is being said, which hint, they can't) not to repeat those words that the crowd is saying.

OR

2) Don't go the ONE place 8 times per year where that sentence is chanted. And really, let's be honest, it's not even chanted at every home game. So you're probably looking at FOUR times a year where they MIGHT hear it. This is an awfully big fit for people throw over 4 days a year.

You can call it trashy, immature, etc... all you want. Doesn't change the fact that THOUSANDS of people are perfectly fine with it, and asking those people to change their behavior in ONE particular environment because you don't want to parent your children, is unreasonable.

Get rid of STTDB

My theory is most of you STTDB proponents get happy “down there” with the thought of another man’s penis in your mouth. That’s why you’re so passionate about a chant most 8th graders would find juvenile. It’s your deep-rooted fantasy. We get it.

in my opinion.... college-age kids are going to say and do whatever they feel like doing at a college football game. the only way the neck STTDB chant ever goes away is if the band doesn't play the song, or the university steps in and imposes harsh punishment on those who partake in the chant.

if you genuinely think they're going to do that... then I think you don't know LSU too well. when 18-22+ year olds get some alcohol in their system and are riding high at a LSU game, they abandon most of their dignity and will let loose any and all verbal assault on the opposing team. i've seen it firsthand for years and I think that's kinda just what makes LSU such an appealing atmosphere to some, because you can tell that the students CARE.

plenty of other colleges have bland, vanilla student sections or entire stadiums for that matter, but the Tiger faithful are among, if not the best, in all the land. sure they're vulgar, but what passionate sports fan isn't? I've heard things at LSU games, Saints games, Pelicans games, UL games, that I wouldn't dare say to my worst enemy, but that is a byproduct of a little liquid courage paired with that innate feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself. I get where you're coming from in terms of feeling "offended" by Neck, but it likely isn't going to stop unless both things in my first paragraph happen.

Love Neck. It’s been ruined. Trashy. I’d like it to be played again minus the trash words. Otherwise, I’m glad it’s prohibited. The words are not the way I want to be represented or the way I want my beloved school represented.

Your mileage may vary.

Don't take your kids to the games, then.
Oh, and STTDB.

I don't even like STTDB, but this comment is just weird.

I'm still of the belief that the chant would have quietly faded away by now if the school hadn't actively tried to ban it. That was always going to backfire. The silly "keep it clean" signs and videos from years ago only made it worse.

I don’t want my 12, 10 and 7 year old kids hearing that. If you’re not honest with yourself enough to admit that it’s old/tired and vulgar, than you should at least be honest with yourself enough to admit your an a..hole for not carrying about offending people who pay money to go to the games and did nothing to deserve to be offended in that way... Geaux tigers!!!

You are exactly right. But the problem isn’t the song as you well know. It’s the chant. Now they’re doing that nasty chant to other songs. It’s childish and disgusting. We were a couple of sections over at the NC game and a little lower than the band. But I was very surprised at grown men and women encouraging an opponent’s team and fans to perform a sex act act on our mascot.

Of course we watched the game after we returned home and were kinda hoping that maybe that the chants were cut off by commercials....nope. Just ignorant and toddler behavior.

Most of our fans are fantastic. We have seen it from Lexington to Green Bay. We go to home and away games and support this team every year...for years.

But there’s a small, very vocal, part our fan contingent that gives the rest of us a bad name nationally. I’m talking about the people that we saw after this game harassing Clemson fans. Cursing them after they made a long trip and they had another trip to make to get home. I’m talking about crude comments made before, during, and after the game that we saw to these fans.

It’s a game. I know it’s college kids. But kids come to the games, too. We have driven back hundreds of miles after a tough Tigers loss with our bottom lips poked out but I can’t remember anyone ever demanding that I suck their mascot’s penis. It’s juvenile and beneath us.

I just can’t believe that this is even a thing.

How much do you care if you could care less?

The correct term is "couldn't care less" meaning you don't care.

English please!

My kid is 19 and has experienced vulgarity at LSU games. Guess what? Never had a problem and is still a good kid.

There's a difference between 19 and pre-teens.

Are you sure your kid is a good kid and not the "Eddie Haskell" type? You don't know what your kid does when he/she is away from you.

I guarantee my parents didn't know 99% of what I did before I became an adult.

Neck is freedom of speech.

You don't understand what freedom of speech is. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.

You are free to say what you want when you want but tell your boss to go STTDB, EFF off or to EFF himself and see how quickly you're shown the door.

I guarantee that if LSU could figure out a way to play neck and shut down the chant they would.

Even Coach O has stated in the past that he didn't like the chant.

Unfortunately, it's not possible unless they make the students sit in smaller sections, away from the band, in upper decks, etc. and we know that's not ever going to happen.

There's no way they could ever reasonably expect to eject such a large group from a sporting event. However, if you and your group of 5 friends were causing issues, LEOs could make you leave. I've seen people escorted out of the stadium many times in 40+ years of LSU football.

Not the same thing and you know it. That was locker room talk and should have never been made public.

I am sure other coaches denigrate their opposition too.

It's unfortunate that one of the players put it out on social media.

Fully support expelling any student doing it. Have some standards.

If it were one student doing something against the code of Student Conduct, fine, expel them.

How do you pick and choose which student out of thousands cheering STTDB to make the example?

Then lots of cans of worms would be opened which I don't want to get into right now.

If a student conduct code consists of not using profanity in one’s free time, I’d think they were a student at Pensacola Christian or something

69 and I love it! Some of my fellow Boomers have short memories. Here's 2 I remember from the student section 1969:

Not going to repeat your cheers but I'm at least 10 years younger than you and I never heard those as a student at LSU. I heard the words arse (What comes out of a chinaman's arse? Rice! and Kick their arse), BS and maybe S without the B.

So in those 10+ years those cheers were cycled out of the student section repertoire as should STTDB be cycled out.
