…yea, like somewhere near our own 40 yard line in the second quarter

I love that Kiffin is a Tiger now and I can’t wait to see his LSU teams, but his obsession with going for it when he shouldn’t is going to be the source of many melt threads I’m sure lol.

What will be the Kiffin equivalent of Canada putting the ENTIRE offense in motion and the fans absolutely losing it?

I was at that game. The crowd letting out that excited gasp was epic. I was one of them.

No worse start than 2022 versus Tennessee

seems like we'd have big opening drives that always got wasted going for it on 4th and goal. a lot.

I don't have a problem with it looking back. We didn't lose games because we didn't take FGs early. We lost because we played SOFT. And that was from the offense to the defense. Sure, Baker's defense was good but look at how many plays guys like Perkins took off, especially late season.

We went for it, because we needed to score to win games, and BK was hoping we would finally play with some toughness. Theres 0 reason for us to not make a 4th and 1, especially against some of these schools we lost too.

It wasn't just coming out flat under BK - we came out on fire against A&M 2024 and FSU 2023 and then shite our pants in the 2nd half. It's why BK's message toward the end was always to play a "complete game" - we always had a dead spot in the big games under BK. Loss of focus, unprepared, poor playcalling, bad personnel, you name it. There was always an easy thing to point to as to why we weren't playing to the level we expect. The difference under Lane, I'm hoping, will be that we will have many more games where we look like the team we expect to be from start to finish. If you lose games that way, you tip your cap. Every loss under BK left us saying "what the frick was that?"

You put it perfectly. Lack of complimentary football and a complete game perfectly captured the BK era. Even in the rare game we finally put it together like you said we would have a dead period that costed us. The USC opener in 24 is another example, defense made a gigantic 4th down stop, we were up and had chances to put the game away up 17-13 but the offense went stagnant in the 4th and we lost a game we had no business losing. When things would go wrong under BK it went off the fricking rails fast. Hopefully these disaster periods happen much less under lane

Our fans need to prepare for Kiffin choosing to get the ball in the first half after winning the toss and for him going for it inexplicably in our own territory and the play falling apart.

We will have a dynamic offense and a lot of team energy though, which will be fun.

You take the bad with the good

To me, the most oblivious short coming under BK was the lack of urgency. He clearly didnt prepare to beat FSU the first season. Then to just let the D fail over and over and not try something drastic while JD5 was going off is

Brian Kelly had a terrible feel for how a game was going IMO. He didn't motivate them when they were flat, he didn't make adjustments to change the pace of games, he didn't put his foot on teams' throats when up, etc.

He just didn't feel the game well as it was happening.

To get outcoached back to back years by Mike norvell is nasty work. His initial staff hires cost that 23 offense a playoff appearance. He absolutely should’ve retained baker and Raymond. Steeples was a disasterous hire at cb’s coach development was awful and recruiting was even worse. 23 may have been the least talented lsu backend in recent memory don’t believe we had a single starter from that backend drafted.

Kiffin’s team usually score early off the scripted plays then kind of bog down when defense adjust then Kiffin will counter and they do from late 1st half on

When we beat bama, I felt like we finally turned a corner.
Then it was just year after year of disappointment and Kelly telling us we're spoiled.

Then we followed it up by almost losing to an awful Arkansas team (which we seem to do every year) and then actually losing in embarrassing fashion to an awful ATM team. At the time I was pissed off about that but I also still had confidence in Kelly. He sucked so much. I don't think there was ever a more bizarre team to win the West than us in 2022

Kiffin hasn’t been this way since 2021 or 2022. Last few years he has calmed down a lot with the over aggressiveness on 4th

Absolutely awful feel. That stretch in 2024 from A&M 2nd half, Bama, Florida was a fireable offense. Terrible stretch of LSU with the season still on the line.

You watch the Oklahoma game last year?

3rd quarter, on the road, went for it on 4th from his own 25 yard line and the snap was botched.

Line up and run a toss dive in the red zone. It’s time to bring back some physicality in this program. That’s what I hope he brings the most.
