That’s 100% going to happen. And happen often. It will be interesting to see how much he trusts Baker and how that manifests. It could be that he trusts him enough to just go ahead and punt. Or he may trust him so much he doesn’t mind giving the other team the ball to start on our side of the field.

was almost comical how often we would go 3 and out to start out ranked matchups and go the whole first quarter scoreless.

Usually after winning the toss and taking the ball instead of deferring. When we did defer we would go 3 and out on the fiest drive of the 3rd street as well...so frustrating to watch.

Last few years he has calmed down a lot with the over aggressiveness on 4th

You watch the Oklahoma game last year?

3rd quarter, on the road, went for it on 4th from his own 25 yard line and the snap was botched.

Both can be true... He's certainly IMPROVED his decision making in these situations, but will absolutely still have some head scratches every year.

What will be the Kiffin equivalent of Canada putting the ENTIRE offense in motion and the fans absolutely losing it?

Winning the coin toss, taking the ball first and running a toss dive on the first play for about 40 yards!

We usually had pretty decent opening drives that stalled bc we couldn’t run the ball.
Lanes teams run the ball so that won’t be a problem.

Hmmm. I did a google search, and this is what I found:

quote:

In high-stakes games under head coach Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss frequently suffered from stubbornly slow starts in the first quarter, running directly counter to his signature fast-tempo philosophy.

While the Rebels were famous for blowing out lower-tier opponents right from the opening kickoff, marquee SEC games and highly anticipated matchups often exposed a recurring early-game struggle.

BK was hoping we would finally play with some toughness. Theres 0 reason for us to not make a 4th and 1, especially against some of these schools we lost too.

Kelly was doughboy soft himself. It was his S&C coaches who produced offensive lines that couldn’t block tall grass. Any lack of toughness was on him, his coaching staff and the culture he fostered. He set a poor example for his players by being lazy in everything he did.

I think thats going to be one of the most exciting developments under Kiffin. that and the amount of times we see Kiffin go for 4th down.
