Kansas was mentioned in the same breath, the Administration stood strong for Self , he said nothing and promptly won the National Championship. Wade was sacrificed and our MBB paid the price.

You are probably in the 90% of the MBB fanbase attitude. The people hating on Mcmahon because of their "passion" for LSU is a crock. It is all about Wade. I don't fault Wade for trying to compete with the Blue Bloods although I wish he didn't write a check out of his wife's account. But it was what it was and the word was if he isn't fired the hammer would come down on BB and FB. Whether that is true or not I don't know for sure but if it was true then Woodward had no choice. I am as passionate about MBB as I am about football and I'm willing to give mcmahon the opportunity to show he can get the job done. If not then we go find the next one who can. This time without the threat of sanctions and investigations hanging over the program. All the rest of this BS is just noise.

I truly believe that it wasn't just basketball related and in some part Wade took the fall for the heat around the athletic department as a whole especially football.

You still haven't found an enter key.

Come on man.

I extended a branch yesterday and you refused. That's okay.

Just read what you type before you hit submit.

I think its just a largely apathetic fan base

It is. But boy do they love the drama. They’d rather argue about Will Wade being fired vs talk basketball

McMahon may build a winner here, who knows (I have my doubts he's built for this era of college athletics) but I think the men's basketball fan base has just grown tired of the continued promise of a slow build.

I looked back on season prediction theeads and the same people that picked them to win 6-7 SEC games have a hard time admitting the improvment from Y1-Y2.

That alone buys him a Y3, which is a make or break year.

'd like to believe that we have an athletic department that can and should field consistently competitive teams in all of these sports. As well as the fanbase to support.

Those 2 other sports keep fans so engaged through ups and downs, plus now you have the Mulkey box office effect so WBB is sort of that “other” sport for casuals to follow. I’m sure they’d like the MBB team to be great but i don’t think it causes them any grief because they know football and baseball are where the fans interest truly lies.

the grand scheme of things, we now know that the program got away relatively unscathed but at the time, the severity being discussed was akin to the SMU death penalty. Nobody wanted to touch LSU MBB with a stick.
how can this be true and a rational person be upset w the actions?

quote:

think we need to make sure our anger and disappointment aren't misplaced, though. It's okay to be mad about the Wade firing

The proactive actions probably saved broad and severe penalties

Be mad at one person. The person that did it.

Then you also have a segment of r tards that view MBB as competition to baseball for whatever reason so they refuse to support it, I don't really know why this is a thing

And it absolutely is a thing.

Considering we have an example of how other universities handled similar situations

Unless you were in meetings with NCAA and know what was being relayed to LSU/SW, it’s purely speculation

We can assume

It’s pretty simple, the casual or general basketball fan knows LSU doesn’t care about its basketball program so they don’t care. When Dale Brown was here everybody cared about all 3 sports so it’s not a fan problem, it’s an admin problem.

I agree to a point, but it's a bit deeper than that, and there's a segment of the baseball fan base specifically for whom it's deeper than that.

the oddest thing are those that portray Wade like he was Dean Smith.

He had one good year. After that it was a bunch of undisciplined shite, couldn’t break a press. Hell couldn’t inbound a ball without calling a timeout.

I can tell you weren't around during the Dale Brown era. Basketball was bigger than FOOTBALL at LSU during at least half of Dale's time and baseball was COMPLETELY INVISIBLE on campus. That's a fact.

I DO NOT throw this "card" around willy nilly.

But THERE IS a racial aspect to why the baseball fans are threatened by men's basketball potential success. The Jethro's on here will down vote away, but it'll be because I'm right and struck a nerve.

people support teams that win. Baseball owns. Football wins

Gymnastics wins. There isn’t an agenda.
