This has nothing to do with Flynn sucking when he was a sophomore. The op was just pointing out most qbs don't light the world on fire as freshman and sophomore.

Give Harris time, he hasn't been playing football for very long.

If Harris would have went to any other SEC west team he would be lighting it up by now.

switching him to defense where he would probably be pretty good.

And not have an experienced backup?
Also, he doesn't really have the right skill set to play defense.

Starts over Dak and Allen? Maybe coker, but doubt it.

Sumlin would have benched him for Kyler because is daddy was upset he wasn't getting pt.

So maybe one team he starts for, Auburn. But yeah that offense is just rolling over people.

Actually I was pointing out how they performed when they are starting on their own, not as a replacement for an injured starter and playing more than one game. Hence I don't count Mauck, Jennings, and Flynn's first performances in their bowl games. I'm talking week in, week out play and development on the field.

They can be seniors and first time starters.

Allen was not good two years ago.
Coker was Bama's only choice and Harris is better.
Sumlin would not have cared, Harris fits his system perfectly
Auburn was a QB away from being a good offense
He would have sat behind Dak, that's it.

Harris has the IT factor. We've seen flashes of it this year. To be honest, it would've been better if he could've been redshirted. He's going to be a very complete quarterback by the time he's ready to leave LSU.

Harris can not throw a short or intermediate pass effectively and all the defending
of his play will not change that fact. He ovrthrew LF on a screen pass which was absolutely terrible pass. Harris missed a wide open receiver on LSUs firdt offnsive play and hit an Arkansas defender in the back. He consistently missed receivers on short routes or threw high or wide all night. He turned the ball over on a fumble because he held the ball far too long when he shoul have just thrown it away.

If you want to blame the OL and Coaches thats fine but to ignore Harris problems is just naive. Harris is part of the problem and must improve.

We seem to recruit QBs with potential instead of just going to get one that can ball out already: go get a damn Texas kid that throws the whole game. I'm sure we can teach him to hand off when he gets here

with proper development he could be one of the best in the league by the end of next season.
LSU can't develop a quarterback. They come in with good skills and they leaver four years later barely improved.

Strong-armed qb's have that problem. I guess we should have benched Jamarcus for the same issue. He figured it out and Harris will as well.

I think Miles likes to go after qb's who can run and throw. He just sees the potential. Problem with running qb's is they take longer to develop as passer. Mauck got much better... AFTER he got hurt and didn't run as much. Randall Cunningham got his MVP after he blew out his knee and couldn't run anymore. However, these coaches and OC's see a guy with an arm and legs and salivate over potential.

Some want a qb who can play lights out out of the box. Those types are few and far in between. Even the top qb's we've had over the last 25 years struggled their first year to start.

I feel sorry for all the LSU QBs in the Miles era. He clearly trains QBs the way my company trains new employees. Its sink or swim. Throw 'em out there and see who the keepers are.

LSUs Qb has nothing to do with the actual player. It is the system and coaches. Look at Blake sims at Bama. Kiffin made him look great

Harris is an excellent QB. He just doesn't get enough reps in the passing game. That's the whole problem with our passing game. From lining up correctly to pass protection.

I've been watching all year second string after second string QB come off the bench to look great and lead there team to victory when the #1 guy goes down. Hell I think 2 did it yesterday, we don't ever let our 2nd or 3rd guy get snaps in our blow out games year after year after year, and can't even get the first one ready

I love BH6. He has done fine when O Line maintains a pocket. He even does well on the run. He throws well on the run. He just can't block for himself. What do people expect of him. Should he play the o line and protect himself from the opposing D line, throw the ball and run down the field and catch it, too?

I LOVE Brandon! He is my QB! He will be amazing the next two years... providing there is still a team to QB.

harris played poorly.

1. fumble caused a td
2. int. in endzone that costs at least 3 points.
3. poor pass to dural that landed in dupre's hands - td
4. cannot throw short passes needed due to pass rush
5. no pocket presence - holds the ball to long and can't avoid pass rush.

at this point harris is largely a strong armed qb with potential.
