we wore white helmets absolutely too much last year.

get you aren’t happy having to backtrack because said something that was easily proven wrong. Do some research next time and know what the frick you are talking about.
Every one of those teams wears a different jersey at least 5 or 6 times per season, even if they don’t use alternates. Again, everyone has different home and away uniforms except for LSU. That’s doesn’t confuse anyone.
The thread is about alternate uniforms you stupid frick. Not home and away uniforms. LSU’s home and away uniform just so happens to be the same and that’s our tradition. Has been for a long time.
quote:
Many of them (Clemson, OSU, UGA, and ND) do at least one alternate or throwback per season.
Which is perfectly fine. They’re still wearing their traditional uniforms way more than not. Last year we wore alternates more than we wore traditional.

but we actually NEED some variety in the lineup
Explain this. Why? Why do we have to have all sorts of different combinations of uniforms?
quote:
I have my opinion, but I also accept the fact that it, just like yours, doesn’t mean shite. This is a business, and if wearing 3 or 4 different jersey combos per season helps us make money and in recruiting, then it’s stupid to oppose it to cling to the past. So unless you are a big donor cutting a check to offset that potential extra revenue, it doesn’t matter what you think about this. It never will again.
Seriously, that’s your reasoning? fricking merchandise sales?
quote:
Just because I make fun of you old heads
How old are you? 12? If the 94 in your name is your birth year, then we are the same age. I just have a little taste.

I don’t mind wearing the alternates that look good. Those yellow jerseys were ugly as frick though.

I’m 50 shithead. 93-94 was my freshman year at LSU
With rev share- yes. ALL money coming into the program is important. And again, if you aren’t cutting a check, and I know you aren’t if you’re hanging out here, then your opinion on wearing one uniform 12 games per year holds no weight. Money and recruiting do.
If you think this doesn’t matter, go back to the best who ever did it and see what he said about it. Remember when Saban re-introduced wearing Purple jerseys here? Why did he? His comments were crystal clear- the players wanted it. They didn’t like wearing the same uniform for the entire season. This isn’t anything new. 3 or 4 times per year out of a minimum of 12 games is nothing.
If you could actually read, you would see that I agree with you on the one point that last year was too much. We have no say in it and that may continue, but I hope it’s cut down to 3 or 4 games per year. That’s still less variety than ANY OTHER TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. 3 variations on the same colors, 1 of which has been around for 50 years and and another (Gold Jerseys) has been sprinkled in going all the way back to the 50s. Yet you still bitch and loan like a little girl over it.

I like the concept, but I agree they could have done a better job with it.

Imagine being 50 and using the term “old head”
quote:
Money does and recruiting does.
Again, and back to my original point, all those other teams wear their traditional uniforms every week with maybe an alternate thrown in there once or twice a year. They don’t seem to have trouble with money and recruiting. And neither do we with traditionals. You people that trot out the recruiting angle for this always conveniently leave out that fact about our recruiting competitors. If they don’t have trouble getting recruits while wearing traditional uniforms the vast vast majority of the time, the logic that we do because of that doesn’t make sense.
A home and away uniform isn’t a variation, it’s their traditional uniform scheme. Our traditional uniform scheme just so happens to be the same.

Your mindset sure as hell is, along with several others here.
Disagree with Saban’s point from the early 2000s all you want, but the players got him to change away from using a single uniform all season. That man didn’t do anything without a plan or a reason. Expanding that to no more than 1/3 of the season is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
You can bang your drum of not caring about others having home vs away jerseys all you want, but that’s still one more variation that many fans will buy and one more that the recruits and players will wear. Several of the teams you tried to bring up use at least 3 jerseys regularly. That’s no single jersey worn for more than half of their season. It doesn’t hurt their branding, so much so that you didn’t even realize they were doing it when you made your first post.
As for money, you don’t just get extra sales for jerseys bought. You get it by playing ball with brands like Nike and Adidas. Maybe you missed that Tennessee just signed with Adidas for $10 million per year plus an NIL incentive program. And you think this shite doesn’t matter
Our current deal with Nike is only work $5.8 million per year, by the way. We need that to go up when renegotiated in 2026.
LSU probably won’t ever go as far as last season again, but it’s just silly to complain about adding a little bit of variety into the mix, especially when two variations are still traditional LSU jerseys. It’s stupid hill to die on.

Just stop with the BS! Who cares. It's for the kids if they want to wear it let em wear it.

if we were traditionalist we would were Purple at home like we use to. But we don't .

We not Bama or GA . Bama Unis suck

think we should wear 10 games of GWG. 1 game in either GPG or WPW. 1 game in an alternate of teams choosing preferably WWW. We need to be a brand that doesn’t mess with the unis too much.
This is correct.
It’s the scattergun approach to last season’s uniforms as well. Wearing the all white in back to back road games was really lame.

I look at the other elite game of the day--Texas at Ohio St.- and I don't see them changing their uniforms several times during the season. Iconic uniforms should not be messed with outside of a few occasions. We should be excited about the fact that we have one of those instantly recognized uniforms.

"Kid's" come and go. Its about the schools traditon. We're not Oregon.

Texas is one of the few programs that doesn’t do any variations.
Ohio State has their different home and away jerseys (which we don’t have), and they typically do at least alternative jersey per season. As of last year, OSU had 14 different alternative jerseys from 2009 to now. Check the receipts on that here:
OSU Alts
You guys keep acting like a few of these programs never wear anything outside of their traditional home and away, when in reality, pretty much everyone but Texas and Bama does it now.

I have a feeling that with revenue sharing & so many schools looking for extra avenues of income, we may see these two schools doing them soon as well.

only one I dislike is the all white "ice" look... I think it's dumb on any team to totally wash all color out of a uni... but players now love it so...

That’s just a reactionary statement. We have never, even last year going to the extreme for us, come close to anything Oregon does. We aren’t changing jersey designs. We aren’t rolling out different helmets with fricking Tiger Eyes. Every change is just shuffling elements we already have, or have used before, and all using the official school colors.
We’ve had a few one offs in the past like the Nike Pro Combats, the 2019 purple helmet, and the throwback helmets with numbers on them a few years ago, but all of those have been for a single game only. The combos in use now have either been around for a long time (Gold-Purple-Gold and Gold Jerseys), or are just variations using existing gear (White-Purple-White and All White).
A team that better fits what you are talking about is Ole Myth with their RealTree helmet (which looked like shite) and now “Rock” helmet this season, and changing up school colors when they feel like it because their staff misordered helmets in the wrong shade of blue 60 years ago.

What does Texas and Bama do to appease their kids who are clamoring for them to do this, like people are arguing is the reason we have to do it?
