So some if you want Miles to make the choice on punishment based on the body of evidence in the case not on the outcome of the case?

Incorrect. A kick is utilizing much more powerful muscles than a punch. This is the distinction that takes your crime from a misdemeanor to a felony

I suspend them all... regardless of position...

for the North Western game. I make them stand the whole time and think about what they did. And they have to wear their helmets the whole time. And no powerade. Ok maybe powerade.

I'm confident LM will handle this correctly. In fact, I bet he/LSU already had in place (long before this incident) team rules that spell out specific punishment for violation of specific team rules. And yes, violation of curfew, no matter how minor it may seem to us, is still important to the coaching staff. Sure, it pales in comparison to arrests, misdemeanors and felonies, but it's still important.

Il comment on one point in the OP. Regarding different punishment because one person is capable of breaking bones while another is not - that's the responsibility that accompanies having that higher level of capability. By OP's logic, shooting someone with a BB gun should carry the same penalty as shooting them with a .357 magnum.

Yes. The legal outcome of the case may or may not reflect what actually happened. There are laws, rights, legal strategies that come into play.

However, Miles is not hampered by any of those, he can simply find out what happened and act accordingly. I stated earlier, them being charged should have no bearing, as that would be at the discretion of the DA's office. That would be unless there was a grand jury indictment, that would change my opinion regarding them being charged.

Since Peveto is by far the most dangerous coach we will face this year, having drawn our defensive playbook, roll the dice with the second string vs. NSU. That'll teach 'em!

You have never played football have you ? No matter what kind of shape you are in, at some point, it becomes torture. Go out at lunch and give me 1000 yds of ladders, 1000 yds of belly flops and 10 100m sprints under 13 secs. Post when you get back.

JJ just getting charged with 2nd degree battery should not warrant getting kicked off the team. If he is actually convicted of that charge, then yes, he is done.

I have two problems with this...

#1: Even if he were to get charged with the crime, it is doubtful that a trial date would be anytime soon. I doubt it would be before the end of the season. It would look terrible for Les Miles, the football program and LSU as a whole if they were to say "well he's innocent until proven guilty. He gets to play" and then his trial comes up half a year later and he is found guilty.

#2: Do people even care anymore about how players are supposed to represent the team off the field? I mean really? He gets charged with a felony and that's ok? I'm sorry, but in the world of amateur sports, innocent until guilty doesn't fly. It's bad enough that he was in a situation which got him charged with a felony.

Based on what's come out so far I would suspend the four for at least 1 game including Oregon.

Anyone else involved it can be handled in practice or after practice with extra running.

The four just made a stupid mistake but none of them have been in trouble previously that we know of. Jefferson appears to have made the dumbest mistake out of all of them if what is alleged actually occurred.

Is there a difference in the court of law? I really do not know so I am asking.

I get your point though.

As I have heard drill instructors say... I cannot make you comply, but i can make you wish you had.

Run them all till they puke, then run them some more.
