Just a guess but I think 2022/2023 are big years for all major sports.
I think O gets us another Natty in 2022 followed by Mulkey, Wade, Johnson and Torino having serious shots in the Spring of 2023 (final four / cws teams).

“Gymnastics is closer to winning a natty than softball”
Agreed. They’re close to getting one

Ed O. If Max Johnson starts in 2021, then LSU should be able to make another championship run in 2022, if it can put together a good enough OL.

O got extremely lucky once. It won’t happen again.
The best chance is Mulkey. That should be obvious.
Then probably Johnson cause he’s a successful coach taking over an already successful program.
O isn’t even close on this list. He’s dead last of the 5 imo. The fact that we’ve hired potentially the best candidates possible for 4/5 sports on that list, it’s embarrassing to see Orgeron next to them considering Football is obviously the biggest draw and most important

Well said. I think this is why certain posters are so against anything Woodward does. The criticism is based on fear bc they know Woodward would never have hired Orgeron
They know short of another playoff run the next 2 years, Woodward will be looking to get someone else to run this storied football program.
I hope Orgeron wins at a championship level. The reality, however, is that if he doesn’t, it will be impossible to ignore his mediocre tenure outside of one magical season where all the stars aligned.
He’s accomplished nothing even close to that level of success beyond that one season.
We should be consistently in the discussion for national championships.
Here’s hoping 2021 returns our Tigers to the upper echelon of college football

Mulkey
Johnson
Wade
Orgeron
Torina
In that order

Well in your 5 choices, both Will Wade and Beth Torina stand as LSU's longest tenured coaches without a Championship. So I'd like to see them get 1.
But the next?
I'd say Mulkey.

If you had to bet- Which LSU coach is the next to win a natty?
This bet is easy as taking candy from a baby:

Isn't Max going to be a senior in 23?
I would love to see Will Wade and LSU men's basketball win it all. We've had so many great players and teams through the years, finishing up at the top, at the end of March madness would be glorious!

Agree.
You can argue that 2019 is what we should expect from Orgeron.
Or, you can argue that last year's 5-5 is closer to what we should expect based on his entire resume (spare me the COVID excuses, that's stupid).
It's somewhere in between if Ed gets fully engaged again, but have my doubts that even his top notch recruiting can ensure a return to championship/playoff levels on a year after year basis.
