Yep no way you can beat a good team twice in same season with a Championship on the line.

Signed,

Les Miles lost that game with his stubbornness. Plain and simple. If you want to blame someone blame Les.

A lot of the same chatter too...Dawgs were barking about some no calls in the first game, said they outplayed us, blah-blah...just like Bama. Then we stomped their arse much worse and on a neutral site which was more of a home game for the Dawgs.

If we had beaten Bama on 1/9/12, Tiger Droppings would have needed 5,298 other posts to fill the void

Does it really even matter anymore? Nothing aggravates me more than a fan or analyst who lives in the past. Yes Bama rolled us in our last national championship game, Yes we lost to Troy, and yes Miss St beat us by 30, But jeez how tf does that define our team coming into a new season, with new gameplan, better depth, new-ish OC, New QB, and receiving core.
Jesus people. LET. IT. GO!

No, ESPN would've said we're one of the best teams in college football history.

An SEC title game where both teams earn their way there isn't exactly the same as a bowl game with a month-long layoff.

Dude, shut up.

This exact topic was discussed 7 years ago.

I thought you were talking about the 2012 regular season game. One we should have won to erase the sting of the BCSNC.

First, it’s 2018...it’s was 7 whole years ago. It’s over, let the past be the past. However, I’ll entertain this thought:

quote:

If we had beaten Alabama on 1/9/12

If that happens, the 2011 team goes down as the absolute greatest in the history of LSU Football and is mentioned as one of the best of all-time nationally. (Obviously) Les gets his 2nd national championship ring and cements himself as LSU’s greatest football coach.

Les Miles is probably still our head coach if we win that game. “The Decline” as we’ve seen since that game might not have happened in the same way or even at all. The Alabama cloud doesn’t loom over our head and the rivalry is actually that, a rivalry.

We probably land some of those recruits that chose Bama over us and vice versa, but we may also not land the recruits that we actually picked up. The national perception of LSU certainly wouldn’t be what it is today, that much I’m sure of.

There’s your “what if” moment. But it didn’t happen. We all remember that night and most of us, have moved on. Seven years is a long time. It’s a scar, and it’s a story but it will not ultimately define who we are unless we keep living in the past instead of learning from it.
