If the orgeron experiment goes wrong how would you feel about Aranda being promoted?

I think Aranda would take a few years to really get the feel of running a big program but I do think he would be the best hire. Clemson hired from within and they have one of the two best coaches in college football. The thing I don’t want to happen is in all this nonsense Aranda ends up leaving for a head coaching job. How would everybody else feel about this?

I would rather hire a proven head coach, as we should've done last time.

Aranda just doesn’t strike me as a college head coach. You need a little bit of rah rah in you to be a college coach and i don’t see that in him. He is way demote suited for the nfl.

He is not head coach material, anywhere.

Well we wouldn’t know if he would meddle in the offense. It’s funny how everyone says they want a qualified guy for Head Coach yet many support a guy who has never been a head coach.

That is basically another experiment. I love Aranda but he has no proven HC experience either. We had better make the correct hire the first time if O is let go.

Not sure that'll be looked at as an option but at least we'd have a HC that actually provides real coaching on one of the ball instead of a "CEO" type coach, which I fricking hate.

We should land a legit HC instead of a coordinator though.

The formula for LSU is: hire a proven HC from a P5 conference. Promoting from within can be disastrous.

Did they get that?

Is that better than supporting someone who failed as a HC?

Fair enough. I personally think he would be a great promotion. But not going to argue with any of your thoughts because I think you all make fair points considering he has zero experience outside of a d coordinator.

The Orgeron experiment makes any hire a possibility. If I had to fire Orgeron today, I'd give the job to Aranda. He can name Raymond DC and focus on finding someone that he believes can run the offense at a high level.

Well, neither does Orgeron. I wouldn't let Aranda get away. Yes, HE should've been the interim coach last yr.

I could See him being a HC in the NFL where rah rah doesn’t take you as far as brains and earning your players respect.

Players love him. They respect him. And he’s smart.

I am most curious to see if we score 35 points and blow out ND will Canada get the A & M treatment Miles got and be asked to stay. There is precedent for it.

Just because a coach is proven doesnt mean he fits his next job and has equal or more success.
A coach that can run a program and is excellent at his craft on that side field plus fitting the program would be best.

Although being from Louisiana does not mean its a fit either.
Every school i can remember that fired a long tenured successful coach went on to hire a non fit but trendy type and were in dumsters for years. Michigan and texas are still iffy but jim fits there

If and when O is fired wouldn’t our fans be less willing to take a chance with a guy who isn’t “qualified”?

You tell me what a qualified head coach is. You don’t see the hypocrisy in saying it when we hired O yet ignoring it wanting to promote Aranda?
