re: If or when O gets into the Louisiana HOF, will he get the warm reception Saban received?

With a completely rebuilt roster.
Completely rebuilt? There were some pretty key players that carried over from Orgeron to Kelly.
People freaked out over the scholarship numbers in the bowl game, but nobody really knew that it was the beginning of the transfer portal craziness. Pretty much anytime there is a coaching change you have a ton of roster turnover now.

But I’m grateful he was the captain of tGOAT team that he engineered.
quote:look, O gets a lot of credit for 2019. But there's context.
You sure about that? Les put all the pieces in place on the coaching staff that made 2019 happen. Once those guys left, you saw what O was actually capable of doing to a program as the leader of the program, much the way his tenure at Ole Miss was.
He didn't perform some masterful job of luring Burrow. Other than Cincinnati, Burrow wasn't a hot commodity back in the spring of 2018.
O also had nearly all of the 2019 offensive talent in 2018, but squandered it under Ensminger.
Only when Brady came in 2019 did it all get unleashed. Now yes, O brought in Brady, but after Brady and Burrow left, it all went downhill.
And Aranda was a Les holdover.
So O does get credit for 2019, but let's not pretend it was some master class in program management. The stars just aligned for O in 2019.

Shhh o still has fan bois that want to believe it was O and a crawfish platter that got burrow to LSU, not a horrific depth chart and a personal connection. Also, burrow wasn’t burrow yet, we had to beat out Cincy for his services. No one saw that rise coming, we were just hoping to stabilize the position.
Miles deserves recognition before O. Hate him all you want for his offense but he was able to sustain success and keep LSU at a high level post Saban. O was a horrible HC before burrow and immediately terrible again after. Blaming covid or banging whores for the collapse is laughable, he just turned back into the pumpkin he always was.
frick that guy and his fake love for LSU people still think he has

The perfect storm of random happenstances came together around one of the most incompetent HC’s in the country and now people are giving him credit for “putting together the greatest team ever”
I hear what you're saying and I will admit I was one ticked off fan when I watched him drive the program into the ground. With that being said, however, you have to give him credit because people don't realize how difficult it is to be an SEC HC and the pressure they face every day. It's not like being a HS HC, because you basically give up your life to whatever university you're at. Everybody wants a piece of you when things are going good and those same people want to bury you the minute you lose a game or call a stupid play.
Like it or not, he did assemble what many call the best team of all time and you have to give him credit for that. I think by the time O gets put in the Louisiana HOF a lot of time will have passed and most fans will have soften their dislike for him. Some, not all!
IMO, the person who deserved more credit than he received was Ensminger! I never liked Brady and thought he was a fraud and that proved true when he was fired at his next job and now he's just considered another NFL assistant. The reality was everything offensively went through Ensminger first before Brady was allowed to call any play.
Oddly enough, I think O was what the LSU football program needed at that time. Miles, who I think did an amazing job overall, was running on empty and it was time for him to retire. O came in and put LSU back on the map with his loud and brash coonass accent and never backed down from a challenge - that even included Alabama and Nick Saban. We have to remember he also landed 5-star players that would have never signed with LSU, if not for O.
Just remember, all coaches are hired to be fired!

He’s OC for one of the leagues best teams and is getting HC interviews soooo yeah I’m not sure what you feel you were proved right on
And Ensminger gets a ton of credit, despite being a pretty awful OC anytime he was the head OC dating back to his AU days.

Aside from the magical season, he wasn’t really competitive with Alabama at all.

You seem to just be making up your own narratives that aren’t remotely true

I'm going to say yes, simply because he did guide us to a NC and put together what many believe was the best college football team of all time
Not sure about LA HOF but O is one win short to make the College FB HOF. Criteria:
10 yrs HC - check
100 games min - check
0.595 win % min - CEO at 0.587 (67-47)

What are you talking about? Saban came into Louisiana and got who he wanted and when he wanted on a regular basis. Yes, some turned out to be busts, but they were highly ranked players that just about every major college wanted! O put a stop to that and elevated the recruiting to levels not seen in a long, long time.
Here's a list of some players that signed with Alabama during Miles time at LSU, but there were plenty of other talented players that left to elsewhere, also!
Cam Robinson - 5 star, still in NFL
Landon Collins - 5 star, drafted 2nd round 2015, retired 2023
Dylan Moses - 5 star out of HS
Aaron Anderson - 5 star out of HS
Hootie Jones - high 4 star, rated top five S in country
Eddie Lacy - 2nd round pick, solid NFL career
If you don't think O elevated LSU's recruiting, you don't football or you have been smoking or drinking some really bad stuff. I realize he turned into an embarrassment in his final years, but he definitely helped when it came to recruiting!

Late Night Luzianner Lifer Orgeron Sycophant alcoholic thread.

I cannot believe the greatest coach in Tiger history is not already in the Louisiana Hall of Fame.
He should be the Louisiana Hall of Fame, for he reflects us all in intellect and personality.
I think he should get a hero's welcome every days....in Louisiana. When not having a QB named Joe Burrow, Ed Orgeron really achieved something:
1. First loss to a sun belt team in school history (Troy 2017)
2. First back to back non winning seasons this century 5-5, 6-7.
3. Drawing down our star studded roster to a team of 42 athletes with no serviceable QB.
4. Explaining to us all what we can use a fishing hole can be used for.

O also elevated our recruiting
Les Miles could recruit in circles around Orgeron. Miles put a crazy number of players into the NFL.
Orgeron was a lazy recruiter, and it really showed in 2020 and 2021 after Burrow and company left. Those were by far the two worst LSU football teams of the 21st century. You have to go back to the 90s before Saban arrived to find teams as void of talent as our 2020 and 2021 teams.

Once again, recruiting was unequivocally better during the Miles era. (And it’s even worse if you take out the 2019 anomaly).

100% supportive. He helped do that.
Will he ever coach at a high level like that again? - No!!

He fricked over the program so bad they made it to the SEC championship game the year after he left. He got lazy and had two losing seasons, but in no way did he tank the program.
I think what you’re trying to say is “thank you, Brian Kelly”.
He did a fantastic job in 2022 fixing the shite show that Orgeron turned the program into.
