But wouldn't it be better to name him now so one person can start taking all the reps with the 1s considering neither have been able to learn the offense that long?

In fact, if Burrow isn't as good as we hope (or hype), then I'm all for naming a starter for each game independently.
Let the game prep decide which QB starts based on weekly performance AND keep them competing year round. Not only do they get better, it keeps the so-called backup starter-ready.
I can't help but remembering Spurrier benching QBs for lack of performance and the wonders it did to the temporarily out of favor starter. Including a Heisman winner.

It means we will have a 2 QB backfield where Brennan and Burrow lineup in a Shotgun Offense and the Center chooses which one he will snap it to.

It probably means that Brennan, Narcisse, and McMillan were so bad that we had to take a chance on a grad transfer. But it at least shows Orgeron recognized that and tried to find a guy that could play. However, I don't think anyone would be upset if Brennan has a great game. I don't think anyone really cares who starts as long as the guy starting produces.

Y’all dont know that isn’t already happening. burrow might be taking 100% of the snaps at practice for 2 weeks now. Orgeron just hasn’t announced that and frankly it doesn’t matter.

The only thing that matters is winning. The PR will take care of itself if Orgeron wins. Les sounded like a bumbling retard 95% of the time, but he won and was loved. Naming a starting QB is for nothing else except giving the fans and media something to talk about. But I also disagree, naming a starting QB does benefit the opposition if they only have to prepare for one guy. Burrow and Brennan do not have the same skillset. If it was a competition between two prototypical pro-style QBs, then no it wouldn't matter a whole lot.
