I would tell him to stick it out. If he doesn’t get job over jd then be his backup. There is always a chance a running qb could get hurt. If Howard beats him out next year, then it is time to move on. He would still only be a junior and have multiple years to prove himself elsewhere.

Is this sort of attitude the result of everybody getting a trophy? If I didn't win it is clearly because the evaluator is biased.

quote:

If the evaluation of the qb’s is fair, give it your best shot to beat Daniels. It he loses to Daniels again, then transfer because Kelly obviously has favorites and Nuss isn’t one of them.

Put this statement together and here is how it reads "If the competition is fair, my guy will win and if he doesn't the competition was obviously not fair."

The rant never fails to amuse.

I love that narrative. “Rabble rabble we need a FAIR competition but if Daniels wins that means it was rigged!” Maybe Lin Wood and Sidney Powell can look into it.

The coaching staff will not let it be a competition. They will not let Nuss or Howard win the QB job.
Maybe because he’s the best option and they know it?

What’s your logic in thinking that?
Look at the qbs they are recruiting. Mostly dual threat type is what I see. Which I personally do not like.

I would have told him to QB LSU vs KState last year in the bowl game. That alone would have told the team he was fully invested in. Would have probably given him a head start on Daniels or even if he played great Daniels never comes to LSU.

This !! Nuss and Dad thought about what was best for Nuss when the team needed a QB and he was the only one they had! Signs of a great leader right there if I am the next coach

If it only took one half of football for everyone to think you are good and forget about your past outings, then you only need one season to be great. Stay where you are, son

Nuss’s dad is an NFL coach. I am sure they have a plan.

The upside to LSU is our wide receiver group is really good and makes a mediocre qb look good.

The downside is he is stuck between Daniels and the heir apparent Howard

If I am his dad, he transfers after the bowl game and there is likely a plan in place already if that is the case. I see them having the deal done before he would enter the portal.

The injury bug can always strike and champions most always have nearly equal quality QBs ready to lead the team to victory should that week's starter gets nicked up.

This is a critical component to being champions. Even Joey Burrow got nicked up a bit his junior year. The Rant tends to ignore that the usual suspects in pre-season top five rankings usually have polished depth at the position.

You are one play away from needing to jump in and lead the team to many victories.

Nope. Kelly’s plan from Day 1 was to bring in an experienced QB for Year 1. It was supposed to be Brennan but as we know, that didn’t work out.

So why didn't he want to COMPETE when the opportunity was there for the Bowl game? He needs to talk to Travis Daniels, who gave up his redshirt year for ONE play. Afterwards, when asked why he gave up a whole season for 1 play, his response was "I play for the name on the front of my jersey, not the name on the back".

To be clear that was the '01 SEC CG, not some B-grade bowl game.

And FTR, I think he should have played. But it's a new era of CFB than in '01.

I think when it comes to Daniels, Kelly will demonstrate Les Miles level stubbornness. If He’s got it in his head that he wants a running QB the deal has been sealed. If Nuss or Howard don’t win the job after spring, nothing that happens in summer camp will change that.

Dad needs to back away.

Remember this from last year?
quote:

Shea Dixon
@Sheadixon
Garrett Nussmeier has already played in 3 games. The thought was he would hold on to the redshirt.

Instead, Orgeron said Nussmeier was upset he didn't get in vs. Alabama.

His dad (Cowboys QB coach Doug Nussmeier) called LSU OC Jake Peetz on Sunday. The plan is to now play him.

quote:

Shea Dixon
@Sheadixon
The previous plan, as Orgeron stated a week ago, was the Nussmeier camp wanted to keep the redshirt on him. Which is why he didn't play vs. Alabama.

Now, Nussmeier's shifting course on the idea. He wants to be able to have the chance to play across the final 3 games.
1:00 PM · Nov 8, 2021

And it was Nussmeier's (presumably Dad as well as Garrett) decision to not play the bowl game last year.
quote:

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is not expected to play in the Texas Bowl on Tuesday, according to a report Monday from The Athletic.

Nussmeier, a freshman, is the Tigers' only quarterback on scholarship but is one appearance away from losing his redshirt eligibility — playing in four games this season. LSU submitted a waiver to the NCAA requesting if he could play without sacrificing his status but, according to The Athletic, the appeal was denied.

The Athletic is also reporting that it was Nussmeier's decision not to burn his eligibility for the game.

I suspect that Kelly didn't care much for that type of meddling, and wasn't going to deal with it this year.
