It was the best LSU defense in school history, or at least second best, and Oregon managed 240 yds passing and about 350 yds total. I'll take that every year against Bama. There aren't any defenses in the country right now as good as that LSU defense was.

Oh, I'm well aware that a ton of people hate Miles, and have since his hire was announced.

It has always seemed like a "trophy wife" type of insecurity; we had Saban, and the media talked about him like he was some type of supermodel (it was about the same type of "he's the greatest" talk as we saw about Fournette early in the season). A lot of people got all giddy about the gushing and love.

Miles got hired after Saban left, and the bitching commenced. Miles wasn't the hot new wonder coach, nobody raved about his brilliance, and we couldn't brag that we had the guy everyone else wanted anymore. It erupted full-scale after we lost that Monday night Tennessee game, but all the petty shite had started prior to that; the complaints about his hat, his earphones, his general lack of suave dapper style (remember Nick always rocked that mock turtleneck like a Hollywood guy, and then Les came in looking like a goober).

Basically, most of the Miles hate has always been insecurity, like a guy that worries the girl with him isn't as pretty as someone else's date. People have always been eager to bash him because of that. It makes no impact that he's winning at a higher level than any prior coach here, or that he's been able to keep the program nationally relevant... and he has. Hell, this season is proof of that- as soon as we started the season with a couple of wins, we shot up the polls and our TB was the greatest thing ever. You don't see that in a lot of other places.

Until and unless we get the next Saban, a guy everyone insists will be the next superstar coach in the NFL, who looks smooth to boot, people will whine and bitch about "settling", whatever that's supposed to mean (I take it the same as "settling" for your wife, rather than hooking up with the latest SI swimsuit model).

I appreciate what Les has done and respect him very much. But when it is time.....Jimbo and Tom Hermann. Wish list would have David Shaw on there. But, he ain't leaving Stanford. His teams are fundamentally sound and quit frankly play over their heads. He has beaten teams that were on paper better than his.

Stated perfectly. Les has been doing this long enough to shed the "Sabans recruits" mantra or "he's lucky" or whatever else. His big fault is his passing games.

Tom Herman designed the offense that demolished Bama. 'nuff said.

That is some far-reaching, kooky pseudopsychology.

Do you like to study history?

If I could have anyone? Jim Harbaugh.

In realistic terms? Tom Herman.

That was 1-2 against Louisiana Tech with superior athletes. Les's record at Oklahoma State:

4-7
8-5
9-4
7-5

So I ask again, who were Miles and Saban before LSU?

Y'all did just see UF a top 5 job in the country had to go get a up and comer from csu right? What makes you so certain a big name guy would come to br if les was fired

Herman probably would take the job he could still recruit Texas heavily

im sure its been mentioned somewhere, but my biggest concern is that if les goes this year, we arent prompt enough with the change and the best coaches available to be had are taken by USC, Miami, Missouri, South Carolina, NFL....

i do like the idea of moving on from les miles but doing that right in my opinion requires very proactive and behind the scenes work by the people that do this stuff.

I agree 100%, as the Florida AD said after firing Muschamp, "What must be done eventually, should be done immediately"

I still think Gundy would be a great hire, Herman at Houston would be good, but not sure about hiring guys younger than mid 40's...I like a good mix of experience and energentic creatively

This is college where it isn't exactly as fair as the NFL. He'd get guys at LSU that were hard to get at UO.

Imagine Chip with a similar D but with an O that can put up 40 consistently. :boner:

Guy is credited with taking Oregon where they had never been before. He's legit and would be my first call.

You are a moron! LSU is one of the top 5 coveted coaching jobs in college. Do you think every D1 school pays $4 million per? Grow up

Buttail, you must be 12 or 13 moron licker, because those who are actually a little older can recall all the other times when idiots like yourself fooled themselves into believing LSU is the job all the best coaches will jump at the chance to coach, only to find out that we have to settle for a 4th or 5th choice, which is actually the 7th or 8th choice after coaches who aren't really serious about the job pull their names because they were playing LSU to get a raise at their present school. You need to wake the frick up from your dream world, and snap back to reality.

This is all true. And just like every coaching search for every program you have a list of who you want and then there is what you get. That is irrelevant if you're ok with being a mid-level SEC program. BC that is what we are right now.
